After a painful 13 hour drive, finally got to the Kings Island resort and conference Center across the street. Really nice- clean and comfortable. After hitting the bar, I crashed for the night.
I'll skip boring tedious details and give highlights.
SON OF BEAST- scored the walkback both mornings with an expired ACE card. Ride started running at 10:15 with 2 train operation both days. Also did it at 1:30 Sunday afternoon with only a 50 minute wait. A good ride, but not the life changing experience I've heard about. Slightly bumpy in some spots, but nothing unmanageable. Overall, a really good coaster which will be great when they perfect 3 train operation.
RACER- did this before with almost the same setup at PKD. Lines were short and ride was fun.
OUTER LIMITS- despite trying my best to keep my head out of harms way, I got literally beaten to death on this thing. Maybe I was doing it wrong, I don't know.I don't mind getting knocked around, but this was above and beyond. It was tolerable with the restraints being somewhat soft. I couldn't imagine it with the original restraints. Declined a fourth ride despite no lines.
VORTEX- I like (or did at one time)Arrow loopers. Maybe it was better when it opened. I noticed it was badly in need of paint and some TLC. A decent ride, but I was expecting more. Maybe I've gotten used to basically similar layouts and elements on Arrow coasters. A slight let down.
ADVENTURE EXPRESS- I heard the ending bit the biscuit, so when we rolled into the station, I laughed. Why bother with a themed lift? Other than the end it was a decent mine train. On a humorous note, sitting behind me was a father and his 6 year old son. When we pulled into the station, the kid loudly announced "Daddy, that sucked!" causing a good portion of the train to laugh.
TOP GUN- really good, tying Big Bad Wolf at BGW for my favorite Arrow suspended.
THE BEAST- THIS ROCKS!! Perfect discription of Son of Beast. I'm hoping over the winter they take care of SOB's remaining problems, it has the potential to become a great speed coaster just like The Beast.
Boy do you have the Outer Limits ride pegged! My wife and I had ridden the one at PKD 3 days after it opened and were looking forward to PKI's version. After the first inversion I was screaming obscenities loudly as my head was thrashed back and forth no matter what I did. We apologized to the other couple that came with us on our trip for putting them through it. Had to wait almost an hour before we could do another ride.
Did you ride Beast at night? There's nothing like it!
Unfortunately, the park closed at 8. No night Beast ride. I could easily picture how cool it would be, though.
