PKD/BGW info???

I am taking a weekend trip to PKD/BGW in a few weeks, just have a few quick questions...

1) How bad should I expect the crowds to be?
2) Anybody know of any good coupons, or other discounts I might find in the area??

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

How long are you staying, and are you going on a weekday or weekend?

As far as discounts, AAA has some good deals with BGW.

I went to BGW last Thursday and it was Horrible for a weekday. Everything had hour-long waits. Evan the Flat Rides had long waits.

Not sure how it is for the rest of the week.

There are PKD discounts on Coke cans.
Pkd and Bg crowds are kind of unpredictable. i went to pkd one day and it was empty, i went shortly after that trip and it was a five ride day. its the same for bg. just hope you have a good day at each park. Go to all the soda machines you can around the richmond area and get coke for discounts to pkd.

Discounts: I currently have right now a coke can with a discount on it for PKD, and this is what it says...

"Present this can and save $7 Mon-Sun off the Adult General Admission. Good for up to 6 admissions."

Crowds: If you are going to both parks back to back (sat/sun), I would suggest trying to go to BGW on Sat, and PKD on Sun. Since I got my liscense, I make frequent trips to PKD for the evenings, and Sunday's have proved well.

Usually PKD's lines run around 45m - 1hr for volcano and hypersonic, with 30 - 45m for FoF. If you go on a saturday, expect double that if not close to that.

Going to BGW on saturday would probably be much better. Though you may get the longer lines at BGW, there is a bit more to do there. Also BGW is much more shady and interesting to walk around in, whereas PKD on a hot day is very miserable when waiting in line because there arent too many shady areas.

Hopefully that helps answer your questions, have fun!

4.) Raptor 5.)Apollo's Chariot

It was either Burger King or Wendy's that I stopped at down that way and found that they had discount tickets for both parks.

Don't miss Scooby Doo at PKD. A fine John Allen junior with nice pops of air. Don't miss the shows at BGW.

Coasterdude, that is exactly what I am doing. BGW on saturday, PKD on sunday. I have been to BGW before, my gf has never been there, so she wanted to go. We are both PKD first timers. I am really looking forward to Drop Zone, as well as Volcano. Been wanting to go there for years, but never quite made it.

Oh one more thing, any good non-coaster attractions worth checking out in either of those areas (besides colonial williamsburg).

Coasterdude04,I was at PKD this past saturday & the line for HS:XLC was outragously long,we must've stood in that line for anywhere between 2.5 to 3 hours, but on the bright side at least there were no breakdowns & 2 train operation.

Coasterfan4life,you most definitely will enjoy DZ,even though the line may appear long it moves rather fast,on my 2nd ride the line stretched all the way back to the wave swinger area & yet we managed to get on in about in hour to an hour & a half at the most, which is much better than HS:XLC's wait time any day.

For some reason V:TBC is becoming somewhat of a headbanger, but it's still a great ride & one you will certainly enjoy.

I go to BGW every other year,,, and if you get htere early, the lines won't be bad,,,,but an hour or sof before lunchtime, they get to be very long for every thing. The only times that they lines are reasonably short are when the park opens, and an hour or so before the park closes.
Yeah. If you are planning for the trip to be on the weekend in the next few weeks, definitely avoid PKD on the Saturday. It seems that PKD's busy saturdays are the last few saturdays of july and first saturday of August. Don't know why. However, Sundays are comparatively empty. If you want to avoid waits on a weekend trip, I strongly suggest doing PKD on Sunday. Besides, BGW has much better capacity rides, shows, and such.

When you go to BGW you must see the Irish Thunder show. Its a Riverdance style dance performance, and it is totally incredible. Definitely a not to be missed attraction. Be forewarned though, you may have to get to the theater 30-45 minutes before the show starts if you want to get a seat.

Batwing Fan - Exactly what I mean. Saturday's are like PKD's nightmare for some reason.

Because PKD seems to be really bad on capacity with their major attractions (except Drop Zone), I like to go in the evenings when lines are shortest.

The greatest thing is that on a weekend night (or good sunday night ), I could easily get 1 volcano ride, 3 FoF rides, 1 Hypersonic ride, maybe 3 - 4 anaconda rides, and then have an hour left for re-rides on the woodies. All that in about a 4hr period if you do it well.
