PKD opening day....a few observations

well, it was time...after five months, my body was craving coasters!!! after getting my oil changed, i arrived at the park about 10:15 to a virtual EMPTY parking lot....so that put a huge smile on my face:) got my season pass and parking pass in what i do believe is record time this year. on to the rides, in summary:)

Ricochet....VERY nice for a wild mouse...the guys at Mack are quite impressive. this thing has a sweet first drop, and the turns are really sharp and fairly fast. the brakes werent that harsh, but did slow it a bit. overall it makes a very nice addition to PKD, and im quite grateful to have it here...oh yeah, excellent rider capacity...a FIRST for PKD, haha:) 9 out of 10

no need to rate the other coasters, seeing as how i have ridden them till im blue in the face. got a few rides on Hurler, which i swear seems to be running smoother....a few on Grizzly...oh yeah....i noticed something really strange. on the first turn on Grizzly, i looked down behind the structure and saw the front panels to three of Hypersonic's trains sitting on the ground...not stacked, but literally scattered in the bushes as if they were garbage...really weird.

as far is Triple Spin is concerned, i wasnt too impressed. this thing has the capability of being an awesome flat ride, but it is WAY too slow....they really need to feed some speed to that puppy...only 5 out of 10, and thats being generous....oh yeah, FOF is now running in almost complete darkness now!! the coloured lights that used to dot the inside of the track area have all been removed....so you really dont know were you are going...very nice:)

all in all, a nice day...left the park around 4pm....obvoiusly no ride on H:XLC, and Avalanche was closed as well...and there were no trains on it either. i love this ride...i hope its not becoming a statistic...other than that, i got multiple rides on all the coasters in the park...well, for the exception of Taxi Jam, hehe:) goin back tommorrow i think, then tues or wed headin to BGW!!! hope to see some of you guys out there:)

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.

About the lights on FOF, i dont know about the one at PKD which you are talking about, but i know the one at PKI, sometimes those lights are off and sometimes there on, so i dont think you can really say that they have been removed, unless you walk down there and actually see that there are no lights on the floor. Maybe since it was the first day open, the electricions forgot to turn on the swith or something.

yeah, FOF, thats true....but ive ridden FOF at PKD many, many times since 1998, and i have never seen the lights off. but yeah, who knows....put it this way, the ride is much better without them IMO :)
