PKD IJ Construction Update

Hey, just wanted to show everyone a new IJ construction pic that PKD just put up. From the looks of it all, of the track seems to be in place (well, with the possible exception of the station). Also the billboard structures seem to be up (at least a couple of them), the helicopter scene is coming along (even the helicopter has been constructed), and several other themeatic elements are in place (light polls, the box crates). Seems the large remaining projects are the structure for the parking garage, enclosing the "underground" sections, and completing the station, They've really made some progress in the last few weeks.

(if you look in the pic, you can also see Anaconda going through one of its preseason test runs)

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

It's so bizzare to see Anaconda running without water underneath. I probably won't be able to get there until May. It has been a tradition to go opening day (which was usually around the middle of March) and ride whatever new attraction they've put into place, but this year they're saving me some money (for now).
Looks like the Wave Swinger(Haven't been to PKD in 10 years, don't remember the name)ride at the bottom of the photo is being tested too. Why is the lake drained? Was it just for construction purposes? Do they do it every year? Are they getting rid of it? Can I ask any more questions? :)

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

They say it's for construction, but I heard it was going bye bye for good. Word on the street is Anaconda won't be around much longer.
Do they even bother calling it Lake Charles anymore? That's just pathetic... sigh.
"Cess Pool Charles" has a nice ring
or "Pond Charles"
"Runoff Retention Ditch Charles"

"I've been born again my whole life." -SAVED
...maybe, just call it "The Puddle formerly known as Lake Charles"

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Construction has really picked up pace on that thing! That was the first pic I've seen of the lake drained. Thanks for sharing!
I was actually there for the first time back in 1990 with a friend of mine and they were in the process of building it. The tunnel was already in place and we were all hyped up to come back and ride it. That never happened with him, but my future wife and I did back in 1995.

If Anaconda and Flight of Fear were torn out, it would give them lots of room to expand--the waterpark. Just remember, that was one of the survey options.

Are you thinking they could potentially expand the water park all the way around to the FoF site? I could see a major expansion but something like that would like...quadruple the size of the current park.
Maybe the'll get a BoomerangBay like the other paramount parks.
I highly doubt they would expand the waterpark. If they do, it will be to move it all to the other side of Rebel Yell to expand the dry park.
You highly doubt they would expand the waterpark? That was one of the survey options last year for new possible attractions and since none of know the results except for the Paramount folks, don't rule it out. There isn't a lot of property on the other side of Rebel Yell, which is why there's only a few attractions (Pipeline Peak, water activity area, wavepool).
I wouldnt be surprised if they did. Great America's most popular coaster was removed to expand their waterpark.
Anyone notice that a go kart track is being installed over by grizzly?
Yeah, Carowinds is getting one too. Both named Thunder Raceway.
