PKD Fear Fest - 10/19

We made the trip on Friday night from Northern Virginia to Doswell to take part in PKD's Fear Fest.  I had been to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights before, so my expectations were pretty high.

I was really impressed with what PKD had done.  There was fog everywhere and the actors they hired really helped create a great atmosphere.

All of the Haunted Houses were excellent.  I liked "The Sewer" because of the 3-D effects.  "The Mummy's Revenge" was cool as well, and "The Freezer" was one of the strangest haunted house experiences I have ever seen!  The combo of strobe lights, thick fog and creepy actors made this one of the more memorable Fear Fest Attractions.

The best in my opinion was the "Blue Ridge Bloodbath."  They really managed to make the tame "Blue Ridge Tollway" Antique Car Ride into something really terrifying.  Again, it all had to do with the great actors who were lined up along the track.

As for the coasters, most were 3 train waits with the exception of Hypersonic XLC.  The average wait time was around 45 minutes.  At one point, one of the trains rolled back and after a 30 minute delay, it was back up and ruinning.

My one complaint, was that PKD was running only one train on all of the coasters.  That wasn't a big deal though because crowds were thin.

Anyway, PKD did a great job.  I'm looking forward to going back next year.
