PKD DROP ZONE PIX (Walkback Opening Day? - Big Fo

================================================== PKD OPENING DAY WALK BACK==================================================Paramount's Kings Dominion will open as scheduled THIS Saturday, March 22nd at 10 AM for our 28th season! Woohoo!Drop Zone is getting rave reviews from guests and staff who have ridden and we want to add as many enthusiast voices as possible to those reviews! We are offering enthusiasts a walk back opportunity for Drop Zone on opening day. I will meet interested enthusiasts at the walkway directly behind the Berserker beginning at 10 AM. We'll walk at 10:15 AM - don't be late! Those folks who walk back with us will be put first in line to experience the awesome 305-foot Drop Zone. If there is a late opening of the ride, you still will have the opportunity to wait first in line. I'll even sweeten the deal by offering a special surprise to those who show up while my supplies last. What could it be?You have probably seen information posted online (by folks who attended our 'Dry Run' day last Saturday) about the Drop Zone restraints ability to accommodate guests with broad shoulders and/or large upper bodies. I'm happy to report that at least 20 seats are now retrofitted to accommodate more guests. We eventually intend to modify all 56 seat positions. Also opening on Saturday is SpongeBob 3-D in the Action F/X Theatre. The film is hilarious - even if you don't know Plankton from Patrick - you'll love the 3-D action of the ride! And, if you haven't made your plans yet for Coaster Con 26, I strongly urge you to book early for the June event! I have no idea what's being planned at that other park, but you will have a blast at King's Dominion with all the special events, ERT and surprises that we are planning. Enjoy the attached photo. I’ll see you in the park on Saturday!Mark RiddellPublic Relations ManagerParamount's Kings Dominion

Im planning to take a trip down to PKD from Nyc. However I heard rumors that alot of the coaster are not open at least untill later in the season. Is that true? or will all of the coasters and Drop zone be ready to open up, opening day the 22nd of March? I would hate to make the trip to not ride all of the parks coaster. I visited in June of last season, and I liked the park, but as some know I had a bad trip becuase of the heat! Im sure it should be great weather next weekend.
every coaster ran today, as expected there were problems, but today was a day to identify those problems before the paying public arrives, everything SHOULD be running on opening day, but as always caca happens :)

never met a coaster I didn't ride (except Junior Geminii) :(

How did Drop Zone run anyway? Was there any downtime at all today?

For those planning to go to PKD's Opening Day March 22nd, I'm working with the
park for a 1st ride walkback on Drop Zone. I will post the info here, as I get
it. as it stands, You should plan to arrive early (before 10am aprox)
(as always all coaster enthusiasts, from all clubs are welcome to join us)

So, is that one of the Coaster Club walkbacks, or just an "anyone who knows of it" can? I'm hoping its not a Coasterclub one because I'd love to get a quick ride on DZ!

If it does happen, how do you indentify who can go and who can't? Also, where would you meet?

Way to go Sam! Get us a Walkback! :)

Drop Zone ran perfectly fine yesterday, no downtime at all. Also,it should be noted, Hypersonic XLC ran without downtime as well.

it appeared to have some down time, as we saw it testing a couple times, as with any new ride...

I sincerely doubt we'll be checking IDs, so if you find me with a group, outside the park, stick with us....AND DON'T BRING THE NEIGHBORHOOD, or we'll be forced to have everyone pull out the club cards:)

during the time I was there both Drop Zone and Hypersonic had brief glitches which tok them down for a few test runs then back up, no huge delays, justa little one.

The only problem I really ran in with Drop Zone was the fact that they had way too many rechecks due to people wanting off. They need a mechanism where you can unlock one seat, not all 64, that's a big slowdown. Hypersonic was testing early, but after about 30 minutes it was running fine.

Man it's looking better & better with each pic that's been posted & I can't wait to ride it & the scrambler looks good in it's new home too.:)

When you say that DZ doesn't accomodate larger riders what exactly do you mean by that? does it mean that tall people can't ride or people with a larger build cannot ride? I'm 6ft1" & I am hoping that I can still fit into this behemoth of a ride so please say it refers to a persons build & not their height.

With scrambler's relocation to the congo section it seems as if there might be plans for something big on the former DF site,I'm still hoping for a coaster to go there & if you've got any info on that then please pass it along & slightly off topic how's the construction for PBR atr SFA going? with less than a month till opening day I havn't heard anything regarding the construction progress of the ride, not even site preperations have been done yet although I have heard that parts of the ride are now on site in the lot between JJ & Wild one,so can you fill us in on the rides construction progress at all?

I'm sure that he means larger weight-wise... I'm 6' 3" and I've never had any problem with any ride due to that that I can pull to mind other than trying to squeeze onto a few kiddie coasters :)

Thanks for letting me know about it.

After hearing all the problems that taller peeps have had with trying to fit into intamin's OTSR's lately (especially on the impulse coasters) it's a relief to know that I'll have no problem fitting into DZ.

I was a bit concerned about it because TOD's restraints are beginning to become a rather tight fit.

This keeps looking better and better. I'm going to try to be there opening day. Can't wait to ride this thing.
Too bad I've gotta wait till june or july to get my chance to ride, but unlike last year I'm definitely gonna make it down to PKD this year. :)

I sincerely doubt we'll be checking IDs, so if you find me with a group, outside the park, stick with us....AND DON'T BRING THE NEIGHBORHOOD, or we'll be forced to have everyone pull out the club cards:)

How can we identify you? I am driving down from Philly for opening day, and plan to be there at about 10, probably earlier, where should I go? I've never been to PKD.

Yeah, I was curious when your planning to arrive at the park and where to meet so I don't get there too early and be inside while you're outside the park.

Also, is bringing 3 other people too many? My four friends and I wanted to spend the day and ride Drop Zone first, but this would give us more time to ride other rides in the morning while they are less crowded.

In those pics, are those employees on the rides or was the public allowed into the park?

Sam said the problem was with big people like him, so I would presume that the issue is girth not height.

No offense Sam. My girth is nothing to brag about either.

To locate Sam, I would look for a 40-something-year-old man with a Coaster Zombies jacket or t-shirt on.
