PARAMOUNT'S KINGS DOMINION ADDS TWELFTH COASTER, RICOCHET*, TO COLLECTION
Park Guests Are Challenged To "Do The Daring Dozen" in 2002!
RICHMOND, VA. (August 1, 2001) - Paramount's Kings Dominion proudly
announces the addition of the twelfth roller coaster in it's unique
collection of coaster experiences --dubbed "The Daring Dozen." Construction
has already begun on Ricochet* -- a unique, fast track roller coaster
packed with tight hairpin turns, abrupt twists, breathtaking bumps, insane
turn-arounds and a fantastic 50-foot drop.
Ricochet* was designed by Mack & Company from Germany. The ride is
an exceptional coaster experience designed to provide every rider with the
feeling of sitting in the front car as each four-seat vehicle takes thrill
seekers on a wild three-minute adventure.
Fast track coasters got their start in the 1950's as "Wild Mouse" coasters
and have evolved into today's modern mechanical marvels. The basic premise
of the "Wild Mouse" remains -- compact coaster design with single cars
careening high above through tight turns and abrupt drops. What makes this
fast track coaster different from others is the custom-designed 50-foot
drop. The drop is twice as high as on other "Wild Mouse" coaster designs
and means more speed and bigger thrills for Ricochet* riders.
"Our coaster collection is unmatched and with the biggest variety of coaster
experiences anywhere there's something for everybody! Paramount's Kings
Dominion is every coaster enthusiast's number one destination in the east!,"
boasts Executive Vice President and General Manager Richard Zimmerman.
"Paramount Parks got a great response to this ride when we installed it at
Canada's Wonderland and we think our guests will love it as part of the PKD
coaster collection!"
Heinrich Mack GMBH & Company from Waldkirch, Germany is recognized
worldwide as a leader in roller coaster design. Mack was founded by Mr.
Paul Mack in 1780 and began manufacturing amusement rides in 1920. Mack &
Company also designed and built Kings Dominion's unique bobsled-style
coaster, Avalanche in 1988.
Ricochet(tm) will highlight Kings Dominion's "Daring Dozen" roller coaster
collection beginning in the Spring of 2002. Other exciting 2002 additions
include a new motion simulator film "Meteor Attack" added to the Action FX
Theatre, Dora the Explorer(tm) and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius(tm) costume
characters from Nickelodeon, the #1 cable network for kids, all new live
shows and Triple Spin, a twirling, fast-moving circular ride with satellite
cars that spin counterclockwise as the ride rotates in the opposite
direction.

This certainly snuck in under the radar. Sounds pretty cool to me. Good addition to an already well-rounded collection of coasters.

If you read towards the bottom, PKD is getting a new a new movie in the simulator, "Meteor Attack." I wonder if PKI will get this in one of their Action Theaters. Also, it said that PKD was getting a flat ride. (This should be moved to the news section) At least Kings Dominion fans know more than just the name of their new ride (reference to PKI and Tomb Raider: The Ride)

It says August 1 because it was not supposed to be released until then. But members of a certain email list get these types of things sometimes.
The construction photos of Ricochet, courtesy of PKD, are up at my website now (see link in sig). On the main page click the link in the news.

Okay, another "doesnt get me excited" coaster for PKD *sigh*. Oh well :). Hopefully, the'll run it unbraked like the one at Hershey.
On the other side, I'm glad to see that PKD is getting a new flat ride (that makes me happy!). Question is though, does it sound more like a Huss Breakdance or a Troika to you all?

The first thing that came to my mind was a Troika.

Actually, PC is getting the coaster. PCW already has a wild mouse.

im thinking PGA and PCW announcements will be bad. if you look at the pattern the rides get crappier as the days go by. tomb raider was like a month ago and now 2 wild mouse announcements in 2 weeks. PGA and PCW will get flat rides or PGA will get richochet and PCW will get a flat ride. but i HOPE PCW fools everyone and gets a hyper. i hope im wrong about the PCW flat ride but im prob not

Is Pkd mouse really custom like it says. As I have never ridden a 50ft high mouse.
Most wild mouse coasters are about 50 feet but their drops are a lot less. So, you can figure this one is a decent bit taller than 50 feet. Also, the press release said it's a unique custom drop. Who knows? Maybe it's a 90 degree Wild-Mouse-Of-Doom drop? ;)

The following statement is true.
The preceding statement is false.
Paramount is definatly going mouse crazy, it's like a freekin' infestation.. lol. Also, I see a mouse for PKI in '03.. anyone else share my feelings?
I also would like to say today (August 1st) is my birthday!!!!
