My sister and I arrived at PKD around 9:45 am. They opened the front gates at 10 am and we went over to the gate near Berserker to get early ride time on Volcano. They let us through at 10:15 am. My sister and I got the first ride of the day in the front seats. It didn't seem that too many season pass holders knew about this, because only about a dozen people had come with us when they opened the gate. We got to ride Volcano another time and then it broke down (for the rest of the day, I think). Rating: 9/10
We headed over to Flight of Fear. It didn't open until 10:45 am, even though the park had opened to the GP at 10:30 am. My sister and I also got the first ride of the day in the front seats. Ever since they got rid of the OSTR’s, the ride has been so much fun. We got three rides on it in about 20 minutes. Rating: 9/10
After FoF, we headed over to Anaconda. I like the turn on the first drop and the loop, but the rest of the ride is too rough. There was one point that I heard my neck snap. I do like how the whole ride is over water. They should build another coaster over the lake. :) Rating: 6/10
We continued our trek from the east side to the west side of the park, with a ride on the forward side of Rebel Yell in the back seat. That ride has a lot of slamming air time; much more than the last time when we came in July. At some points, my stomach was hitting the lap bar really hard that it hurt.:( Still a fun ride though. Rating: 7/10
Oh, they were doing a bit of digging next to Rebel Yell for Ricochet. I think they're about to pour some of the first concrete supports. Seems like it will be a really fun coaster given the tightness of the space.
Hurler: Didn't seem quite as fun as in previous visits. The heat must do something to the wood, because it was really, really rough. We still like to ride this one though; it was my sister's first coaster. Besides, there was basically no wait. Rating: 6/10
Grizzly: They had the lights on in the tunnel this time. Maybe they just forgot to turn them off doing their morning track check? The ride was fast and fun, as usual. Rating: 7/10
Hypersonic XLC: Around 2pm, we got in line to ride Hypersonic. This was supposed to be our second ride on it for the season, but after watching six cars shoot off, the ride broke down (limit switch busted). When that happened, we had been waiting in line for about 40 minutes; many people started to leave, but we decided to stay in line, hoping that they would fix it quickly. Another half hour passed and we were already in the station because the whole line, except for about twenty people, had left. The ride ops handed out water, as most people just sat on the floor and talked or played cards. =) About 1 hour and 20 minutes after we got in the line, a PKD manager came and told us the ride would be closed the rest of the day. To compensate, they gave everyone complimentary tickets to the park for a future visit. Since my sister and I are season pass holders, we basically got two tickets that our parents could use to come with us another time. Thanks PKD! :)
Taxi Jam::):):) Since we didn’t get to ride the big 20 second ride, we decided to go on PKD’s small 20 second ride. There was no line for Taxi Jam, so the ride op let both my sister and I on the ride, even though neither of us is under 60 inches tall. We did 11 loops. It was fun having people stare at us like we were crazy. ;) Even more fun seeing my on-ride photo with my head partially cut off because I was too tall. 9/10.
Shockwave: Nice forces on the first drop. The rest is boring. 2/10.
Avalanche: Fun riding a bobsled coaster in 95 degree weather. 6/10.
Scooby Doo: Good kiddie coaster, but too cramped for me. 5/10.
The rest of the day, we rode the Scrambler, Berserker, and other flat rides. Most of the rides, including the coasters, were walk-ons. OK, that’s enough writing.
Volcano: 2
Flight of Fear: 4
Anaconda: 4
Rebel Yell: 2F, 1B
Hurler: 5
Grizzly: 6
Shockwave: 2
Hypersonic: Broken
Taxi Jam: 11 loops
Avalanche: 1
Scooby Doo: 1

Why didn't you do Hypersonic when the park opened? I suppose it was down then as well.

I plan on going to PKD this weekend and did you see any discounts anywhere like coupons or something? I really wanna do Hypersonic 1st when I go b/c it probably gonna close! I see there were not 2 big of lines except on XLC. Why do much of the rides close there and did you use that new pass system at all? Were there no lines b/c it was going to rain, it's school time, or what? 1 more question....how do you do the Smily Faces?lol

Grant: After going on Hypersonic once in April, we decided the 90 minute waits weren't really worth it. Better just to get walk-ons on all the other rides.
coasterfreak05: the pass system wasn't working and to my knowledge, I don't think they've ever used it for Hypersonic (just on Volcano). I think there were no lines because of the heat (over 95 and very humid); most people were at the water park. For the smiley faces, click on Help for instructions.
does the pass system apply only to season pass holders or can it be used by the GP? I'll be heading out there on the 18th so I just wanted to get some info.
BATWING: The pass system (like fastlane) is open to anyone. They distribute the tickets from a machine beginning around 11am. They run out quickly. For season pass holders, there's early ride time on Volcano between 10am and 10:30am everyday except Saturday.
