PKD 10/11/2003

I made my first ever trip to PKD. I was blown away. This park was truly amazing.

It was over cast and the park was pretty empty early.

Headed over to Volcano the Blast Coaster first. This thing kicked ass. It’s so good!! It’s going to make it into my top 10. Theming was nice and the ride was smooth. I rode the front and waited and extra 25 minutes for it. 9 out of 10.

Next was Flight of fear. I have to say this was a lot better than PKI even though they are clones. Rode the front and it was a walk on. 7 out of 10.

Anaconda was next. This coaster is really nice to look out all those bright colors out over the lake. It’s truly something special to look at. Walk on right to the front. 7 out of 10.

Next we headed over to Rebels Yell. Waited 35 minutes and rode the second to last row. Not a bad ride seems to be going a lot faster than we really were. 7 out of 10.

Next was Hurler. This was a very nice coaster and station. The line entrance was rather long. Longer than mean streak and that’s pretty damn long. The station was nice. We rode this coaster 4 times. Twice in the front and twice in the back. Now I know this is going to be a stupid Question but what is the theming in the station for? Is it about a movie Paramount made? I'd give Hurler a 8 out of 10.

Next was Grizzly. Pretty nice coaster. I like how the Q line wonders into the woods. It is kind of hidden sort of like Beast's Q line is. We rode 3 times. Once in the front and twice in the back. The back is better than the front. The tunnel is really really loud. 8 out of 10 for Grizzly.

Avalanche. My first outdoors Bobsled. This was so smooth and so fun. We sat in the front all 3 times. I loved it and it was really really run. 9 out of 10.

Next was Hyper Sonic XLC. It had been down all morning and it was now 2pm. We waited an hour and some change to get to the front. Let me just tell you how disappointed I was. This was really loud and really rough. I was sad very very sad. I'd give it a 4 out of 10.

Next was Ricochet. We rode in the front with a little boy and his mom in the back. Run coaster, one of the best mice I've ever been on. 8 out of 10.

Next was Rebel Yell Backwards. We rode the front, which was really the back, which was the front. You get the point. Very fun and scary may I add. Loved it. 7 out of 10.

Headed over to Shockwave next. SHADY is the word here! Waited 40 minutes for the front. Can those harnesses get anymore shady looking? Didn't like this coaster all that much. Boring and rough. 5 out of 10.

Scooby Do Ghost Coaster- For a kid coaster this thing kicks ass. 7 out of 10.

Onto the Halloween things

I didn't like how when you went into haunted houses you had to hold onto the person in front of you. My Girlfriend and I were lucky enough to be the first one in and each thing. But I always had some little kid behind me that I had to drag because they were to scare to go in.

Mummies Curse- Pretty fun really dark. 7 out of 10.

3D Freak Show- Pretty dumb 4 out of 10.

There is a house by Grizzly and I forget what it’s called. It was the best one. Really Really dark that I could barely see. 8 out of 10.

The Car ride that was decked out had like a 3-hour wait. We passed on it.

You thought Hypersonic was rough? I believe that's the first time I've heard that!

Hmmmmm, they must have changed the haunted house by Grizzly. When I went last year the whole place was lit with red lighting. It was bright as day in there! It had alot of mirrors and guys dressed like mad scientists. It sucked!

I never heard it before either. Thats why I was really looking foward to riding it and was so let down. The brakes all the way up the hill made it jerky. Also on the way back the trick track was rough in the switch. I was really dissapointed. Oh well!

With the Haunted house I might be getting them confused. But there was no scientist running around I know that.

One thing I noticed about the park was all there coasters are clumped on top of each other. Did anyone ever notice this?

Theming, if it's like PCar's version, is from Wayne's World 2. Some set from a movie, I think. I never saw the second one. You can still see the "Kewpie Doll" stuff on the walls at PCar.

-Brian, who enjoys long walks on the beach, wooden coasters, avoiding being called a "jobber" while keeping it real in the 9Quad.

Bunch of doll legs and a dana carvy chair.

I was describing how it was last year. I haven't gone to FearFest this year yet :)

Corey

This is my home park, I was there the same day. It seemed a little packed for me. We rode the rides and left, were going back for the halloween stuff this weekend. I was not excited about the halloween events from the outside they didn't seem to put alot into them. About XLC It has never seemed rough to me, I love this ride.
I don't want you guys to think I am bashing PKD or HYper Sonic. I loved your park and it has now become one of my favorites. As for Hyper Sonic going up the the brakes grabbed a little to much and made us thrown into your lap bars and when we came to the trick track we were thrown again. And in the break run it was really jerky. I guess I was expecting alot more. Oh well! Their Halloween stuff wasn't really that good. Its better than fright fest but not as good as Busch stuff.
