PKD - New Drop Zone pic

I was browsing through PKD's site and stumbled upon this pic. I'm loving the color scheme! Check it out:

If I'm not mistaken, those are brake fins MAJORITY of the way up the side of the tower...is the freefall only going to be that small? That would seem like a waste!

You're wrong there. PKI's Drop Zone has them too if memory serves me right.

I actually don't think this is a picture of the drop zone at King's Dominion - there's no doubt you found it on their website, but just like Six Flags commercials, they are probably using a generic picture to advertise this - this picture doesn't seem to have big spokes sticking out for each seat.

Hmmm...I can picture King's Dominion doing something like make a shorter drop...it's already known that their tower will not rotate {they're cheap}

It is not PKD's... it is a color enhanced picture of the PKI tower.

Proud A-lister!

PKD's is supposed to have that ugly "Bicycle spoke" seating ring. There is no way of mistaking that ugly thing.

There are people on it. Big clue right there.

And no, I'm not talking about the goofy-looking ones in the foreground.

The braking force can also be controlled by the alloy used in the brake fin. In other words, you can be travelling along the fin and not be braked at all and then be braked very hard (I can't even tell if my grammar is right) later in the same fin. (at least according to extreme rides 2002's Acrophobia segment)

My shirt in my photo seems to be for "Aging Bull"

"Bicycle Spoke" seating? Guess i'll have to wait until opening day to see what you mean.

Sylvester: I believe they didn't make the thing rotate because of reliability. I heard that Acrophobia's and Drop Zone PKI have problems with the rotating :::shrugs:::

Coreo81 it's been common knowledge for a few days now that PKD's DZ will have a "bicycle spoke" type seating ring as opposed to the regular design used on DZ at PKI or Acrophbia at SFOG,just look at the DZ pics in the news section here on the buzz.

Because of this design the seats are a bit farther away from the tower itself,I guess it's being done this way to make up for the lack of rotation.

I'm glad someone is, because I think it's quite possibly the ugliest thing I've ever seen...

They say music can alter moods and talk to you, but does it load a gun up for you and cock it too?

I agree Travio, what was PKD management thinking when they came up with that choice of colors?I would've much rather seen the gray/green color scheme that's used at the base of the tower being used for the entire length of it instead of yellow & orange.

On the bright side of things though at least while you're on the ride you won't have to look at the tower itself but depending on where you sit you'll be faced with that ugly eyesore known as Shockwave, which has a paint scheme almost as bad if not worse than DZ.
