Disney will make changes this spring to the Pirates of The Caribbean rides at both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland -- adding characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and updating some of the special effects. The rides will close starting in March and reopen near the release of the movie sequel this summer.

Did you know that before Big Thunder opened the park had a second train ride that took guests through the old west including a geyser-filled Yellowstone? It opened with the park as the Rainbow Caverns Mine Train and was renovated in 1960 as the Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland. You can still see remnants of the ride near BTMRR's exit [the tunnel across the pond] and along the banks of the river [the smashed locomotive with the gofers poping out of the second car].
The ride was removed for a western-themed roller coaster. Anyone around here want to conplain that the park didn't keep this train ride for "nostalgia" or as a "rememberance to Walt" instead of adding Big Thunder?
Nope...didn't think so ;)

And Moosh, I wish they'd figured out how to keep both...I love train rides. ;)
The story makes more sense the way that they have it set up. The back drops and animatonics where simply amazing. There was also only a 5 minute line durring spring break!:):):):):)
