I can honestly say I hadn't been looking forward to Pipeline the way I had for recent Orlando coaster additions like Velocicoaster, Guardians or Tron. I wasn't actively not excited for it, I just thought it was going to be a gimmicky ride I would ride once when it opened and sort of forget about (I'm looking at you Ice Breaker).
Instead, all I can say is holy **** is this thing fun! With the passholder preview I was able to get several rides between both Friday and Saturday and had an absolute blast. It is everything all of the stand up coasters of the 90s weren't: comfortable, enjoyable, and very easily re-rideable. The best analogy I can think of is it reminded me of how I felt after riding Mystic Timbers for the first time after dealing with wooden coasters that tried to go too fast while coming down for drops that were too tall. *This* is how to do a stand up coaster. No crazy height or speed records, if anything it looks kind of boring from the ground. But the launch and large elements work so well, and there are three distinct airtime moments where you can get a unique kind of stand up airtime moment and have your feet and legs float in the air. The bicycle seat will do it for you either way, but after a few rides I was able to learn how to hop into the air during these elements, and it makes for an even more fun and unique ride. My favorite element comes after the initial overbanked turn, it's the giant airtime hill that then drops into the fountains. If you learn when to hop in relation to the airtime you can get several seconds of total float airtime. And unlike other B&M coasters with inversions, I could stand on this thing all day and reride and not have even the slightest twinge of queasiness or a headache.
I was absolutely blown away by this ride and can't wait to go back. I'm sure the ERT-like conditions of the platinum pass preview days will quickly be gone when the other pass levels can ride and then it opens to the public over Memorial Day. But SWO is known for walk ons on weekday mornings and evenings outside of peak season, so I'll definitely be back sooner than later for more rides. I can't remember the last time a ride excited me so little until riding it and then immediately became a favorite. This thing is seriously that good. And even though they were struggling to fill trains they not only were running both, but doing so efficiently!
Seriously, if you are local and have a pass, do yourself a favor and go ride this thing. It is not the standup coasters of our childhood. It's one of the most genuinely fun new coasters I have ridden in a while.
TL;DR
Pipeline > Rip Ride Rockit
Well, that’s a fine review and I fully intend to make SWO a stop the next time I’m in Orlando. There are a couple of new creds for me there now.
I will admit to succumbing to the Enthusiast’s Toxic Trait and drawing firm conclusions from watching this ride on video. It just didn’t look exciting at all to me and after looking at it I said “Oh meh, why did they even bother? I guess we’ll wait for another park to put in a better one.” But those content creators have loved it, and now here’s a review I can trust. So, thanks.
I’ve heard nothing but good things! It’s too bad B&M didn’t have this model when they built Gatekeeper cause this would be such a great fit.
If only they could put these trains or at least the restraint system on Georgia Scorcher. I absolutely love the layout of it. It's fast, compact, and just fun. I feel this GS and Mantis are/was the best stand-up layout due to the back-and-forth banking changes to really feel the stand-up part.

Magnum's 3rd hill is the best airtime hill out of all the coasters in the world!
I too was looking forward to this ride. The layout looks hella fun (surf lingo?) and I genuinely want to try it after the disappointment of Ice Breaker.
I have a Silver Pass that expires at the end of the month and would love to take one last trip to SWO and BGT. I was told Pipeline opens Memorial Day weekend but unfortunately that doesn't give me enough days to avoid the holiday but still visit both parks.
From the start, I thought this one was going to be a sleeper hit. The concept and layout always looked great to me.
Glad to hear it is a great time! Look forward to trying it out this fall if we make it down for HHN this year.
Silly you, everyone knows that the station simply is not able to accommodate a stand-up train design.
