Photographs of the completed Scream!

The area by the dive loop...where a bunch of those newbie plants were just planted?

Yes, that area, which is close to the new plaza the park is building, has some new plants. But the rest of the ride is still over asphalt with faded lines still showing. If they were going to rip it up they would have done so *before* vertical construction started.

Looks like Magic Mountain is going to have a parking lot coaster.

No doubt, Phil. Since they're not going to remove the old lot would it really cost a lot more to get some aggregate [small rocks, for those of you who might ask] and pour it over the asphalt so at least it looks nice?

Why would they, they didn't even do it 20 years ago with Colossus.

I know, DW...its just wishful thinking on my part and a minor pet peeve at that.

Well they just might. SFMW fixed up Kong really nice with those red rocks. Who knows..I think the same thing would look nice under skweem!

Party goin on in the corner.....gotta be California!

It's certainly possible, but SFMW still has not done much with the lot underneath Medusa. I'd love to get a SF rep's view on SF's parking lot coasters. Is it really all that cheaper and appealing for them to do things this way, or is something else going on? I mean, why tear ground for the Superman flyers, but not the California Floorless coasters? Do they think because of the visual aspects of the ride and track, no one will notice the faded white lines on the ground? Or is there a good reason that they need to preserve the ground underneath? I can't think of one. Perhaps they've already decided that Scream will one day become part of SF's ride rotation program. ;)

Still, like Moosh, it's only a minor quibble with me, and the Medusa plaza at SFMW is still one of the nices areas of that park.

According to that "online bible" of information, RCDB, the following can be found:

Medusa East's length: 3985'

Scream!'s length: 4000'

Now, I doubt that Scream! is exactly 4000' long, but that figure (whatever the exact figure may be) is very close to Medusa's. If Scream! were tighter, it would be shorter, correct?

I used to think that this was a different design because of the lift supports being different from those on Medusa, but now I'm guessing that the change might have had something to do with the building regulations in CA because of earthquakes (although that doesn't explain why Riddler's Revenge has Medusa-esque supports and Scream! doesn't.) I seriously doubt that many, if any, changes were made in the layout aside from the obvious mirroring, and for SFMM patrons, that is a fantastic thing indeed.

Agreed, Rob, and more importantly why does it matter? If this were a clone of SFNE's Superman or HW's Legend no one would be complaining.

But you already HAVE a racing coaster in SoCal, and the other one you took out...so stop complaining....

bill, furthering the teasing...;)

besides, Scream CAN'T be as good as Medusa, it doesn't have all that awesome theming....YET!

To my uneducated eye, it looks like Scream is a bit longer due to the "speed hill" right before the Corkscrews. I don't recall either Medusa doing that.

Now that I've had a chance to see the completed ride I'm a bit more excited about it. One of my biggest complaints about floorless coasters is that the second half of the ride is usually boring. The ending to Scream looks really tight with some possible airtime and nice laterals.

basisisisisisisst.....Medusa does have the speed hill before the corkscrews. check the bird's eye view on rcdb.

Whoa, thats one of the stupidest comments Ive heard on here for quite some time. I checked out the bird's eye view of Ninja at MM, it apparently has no drops whatsoever! ;) Don't judge a rides layout from 1 pic that has almost no perspective of elevation.

Something is still missing on those photo's.. and I'm not talking about trains.. ;)

Ugh! It's a mirror clone. End of discussion! It's not more compact, come on people look at it.
WHy do you guys CARE if it is or not? Jeez get over it already, does it affect the experience of the ride- NO, do 99% of the people out there even know there is a Medusa at SFGAdv- NO, do people who argue and bicker whether or not its a clone because its 10 feet shorter have lives- NO! ;)
So i guess all of you who say it is a clone and nothing is different dont consider Titan a clone of Goliath cause of it's extra helix? Also, the Superman floorless in Spain, is it a clone of Medusa cause it has a very similar layout. Designers often tweak their rides because they want to make them better. The extra helix on Titan was added to cut down on the force of the mid-course brakes.
Uh....... Superman Attracion del Acero is totally unlike Medusa.

And no I would not call Titan a clone of Goliath. Different experience.

What I would consider clones would be GASM and Shockwave even though they have very minor differences.
