Phantom's Revenge: Two Train Operation?

Next Sunday, I'll finally be getting to Kennywood to ride Phantom's Revenge for the first time. (That day happens to be KennyKon, an ACE Event. I'm sure I'll see a lot of you there, actually.)

Anyway. Does anyone know if they've installed the trims and started two-train operation yet? Are there any plans to have the trim on for KennyKon? Also, I've heard rumors that the trims will be on the last hill approaching the brake run, but until I see myself, they remain just rumors.

Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks!

Was there today Lynch-doesn't look like-I didn't go on cause we had the little ones. Good time as always! Thanks for the info on Dorney and Hershey going there this week....

Mike
Enjoy your trip! You sure you can't fit in Knoebels? It'll be worth it, trust me. ;)

FYI---The Bolt was only running one train too. There was a good crowd so I don't know why they only had one going. The line for Exterminator was real short, wish we could have done that one. The little one can only get on the Jack Rabbit. Also, they are running the line for the Revenge a little wierd. There is maze in front and they hold people there before letting them go up the old wooden "plank".
Actually, they aren't really holding them there. That is where the scanner is where you scan your Phantom Phanatic card to keep track of your rides!

So when the ride opened, "they" only had a one train operation? That's crazy! Just think of how long the line is?

Well, funny thing, that. They ARE holding people there, unless policy has changed since last time I was there.

Yes, that IS where you get your card scanned. However, the staffer there will also hold the line there to keep it from backing up over the bridge. They were having problems with people throwing stuff down off that bridge to the walkway below, so now the park tries to keep the line from getting back that far out of the station.

Further proof that ridership on Steel Phantom was WAY down -- the line didn't frequently back up over that bridge for this to BE a problem ;)

Oh, I went at the end of May the week it opened and they didn't do that. People were throwing stuff though.

Okay, here you go:
Yes, they are holding people in the queues as Greg stated. They let a certain numer of people up the ramp in to the station at a time. Usually there are about 6 trainloads of people in the station at a time. You can still pick your seat. (You can choose where to ride, too!)

The T-bolt is indeed running two trains. Either it wasn't busy enough at the time, or a train was pulled off for maintenance when there was only one running for Mikeman. Most likely the former, because there is a third train to run when one is down.

...and finally, to answer your original query: as of now (and 99% chance for Sunday) there is only one train running. Be glad for the ERT for KennyKon. You get T-Bolt and PR for 1/2 hr. at the end of the day if I'm not mistaken. Lines last week during the week were about 20 minutes, weekends have had lines up to 2 hours+, however.

The saddles to hold the magnets have been installed. One set before the final dip, one immediately at the end of the dip before the brake run. There are a few snags in the plans, parts have been ordered but are not readily available. Expect 2 trains by the end of the month and you shouldn't be dissapointed.

Oh, and Lynch, IT'S ABOUT TIME! Geez, for a guy with a Kennywood website.....

The lines have only been 1 hr. 30 min. at the most usually. Now compare that to other openings of coasters at other parks...that have two or three trains running. It's quite a good deal.

Once trims are installed, we can finally have two-train operation. I hear there are clamps in place and the brakes should be arriving (if they haven't already) from DH Morgan - or should I say Chance Morgan Coasters - shortly.

I'm sure Kennywood is doing their best to get these trims installed. Who knows, they surprised us with the unexpected opening of PR, the unexpected reopening of the Thunderbolt, and now maybe the trims? We'll find out on Sunday...
hey lycnh im goin to KennyKon as well i cant wait for it to come. im so excited. do you happen to know what those Infamous Take Over Times are? ITOTs? cause i would really like to know.

Basically Takeover Times are a bunch of ACErs descending on one of the smaller rides and timing it so they get on all at once. Imagine, say, the Turtle or Kangaroo, filled with screaming nuts...
