Track for Phantom's Revenge began arriving on Tuesday in Kennywood's parking lot. There are several sections of track as well as a few supports sitting there. Pictures of the track and supports have been posted on the pictures page of Kennywood Boulevard.

Its not going to be a record breaker because 1: they don't have the room around where it was origonaly built 2: You don't have to have a record breaker to have a great coaster.
But charlie every great roller coaster at one time was a record braker.
I'm curious about Phantom's trains. Will Morgan be adding new rolling stock or modifying the existing Arrow stock for lap bars? Does anyone have photos of what they will look like?

Thanks

What records did Thunderbolt break? Phoenix? Superman:Ride of Steel?

Kennywood doesn't need to get into the arms race of trying to set records every few years. They just don't have the space to do so. Instead they're putting their efforts into getting a FUN ride.

Actually, Greg...

From Knoebel's website:

"The Phoenix was originally built as the Rocket at Playland Park in San Antonio, Texas in 1947. At its opening it was hailed as 'the largest roller coaster in the world.' The first hill measured 78 feet and there was some 3200 feet of track."

But I certainly see what you're saying. That list can be expanded a great amount by just adding most of CCI's creations.

The original arrow chassis will stay. Morgan is going to change the fiberglass top. Kennywood says they hope to change to a lap-bar system. Personally, I don't see how they can't change it... what would be the point of keeping OTSR's?

No you are wrong kennywood could sue all of the room fromt he old entrance to the river
I am starting to wonder how the new Morgan track is going to look and match up to the old Arrow track. I think Morgan would have been better off if they would have teamed up with Arrow and made the old style track.

All I have to say is that if the new Morgan track ages better than Arrow style who cares if it doesn't match up? Do I need to remind anyone how rough the pretzel on the Magnum is getting? All that said the Phantom was my favorite Steel despite the inversions and I hope they can do it justice in it's new incarnation. I guess we'll all just have to wait until opening day to see.
I was a employee of KP for five years three as a T-Bolt op and the one thing that I can definetly tell you about the Phantom Rev is that KP is going to suprise us all they always find a way to who knows what that suprise will be but it will be a great ride.
