Phantom's Revenge info

Just FYI for anyone who might be headed to Kennywood in the immediate future. Apparently the motor on the Phantom's Revenge is showing its age. The PR's lift hill slows down from its normal speed of 5 mph after a few seconds in order to pace the ride properly so that the trains don't stack up in the station. The motor, however, is no longer strong enough to get the train back up to 5 mph when it's 3/4 the way up the hill and has to speed back up to 5 mph. The long and short of all this is that when the train can't get back up to speed, it emergency stops and the train has to be evacuated from the lift hill. Therefore, only one train is being run, so the lift hill doesn't have to be slowed. The line for the ride, even on weekdays, is averaging an hour and a half to two hours due to the one train operation, with the exception of the first and last few runs, obviously. Anyway, just thought I'd inform anyone headed to the park.

Okay... that's a buncha crap.

You're not even close.

Hi

Being a Thunderbolt crew member at Kennywood and my manager being the former manager of the Phantom from last year, she knows the Phantom crew and what Demop has posted is what she has told me. So looks like Demop is correct, let alone even close. But nevertheless, the thread is to inform people the Phantom will only have one train so expect a long wait. *** Edited 5/28/2006 5:52:11 AM UTC by TBoltKWer***
It's verbatim from a discussion I had with the ride ops at Kennywood. I have no reason to post a completely bogus topic about a ride having a long line due to abnormal operation. What, am I gonna discourage people from going and have the park to myself? please. I'm only sharing what I know so others who might be expecting a short wait don't get discouraged by a longer line than usual.

His info comes from me, im a Tbolt team member who is informed on the issue, but again, the thread is to inform people of the long waits.

Hmmm.

Do I believe second-hand info from ride-ops or the guy who works on crap like this?

Who cares, one thing that is true is my signature.
look I didn't come marching in here waiving a banner over my head that says coaster king and proclaiming myself lord of all knowledge, alright? I posted what I came across and I got a guy coming back at me saying it was crap, without A: telling me he was a ride mechanic or whatever you say he is or B: giving me another reason. so hmmmm...can anyone else see why I thought he was full of crap at first? He gave me no evidence to believe what I heard was wrong. He (and you too, apparently) just decided to treat me like I'm still spoon-fed. I'm not trying to start anything, and I didn't say I was UNDENIABLY right, I'm just friggin' sharing what I heard, for pete's sake...

Exactly, and i think you people are getting away from the point of this thread. Demop wanted to inform people going to kennywood that they can expect a loooong Phantom wait. The other info is what he heard from me. I figured I had a credible source. If not, oh well, but if youre gonna call it crap, at least ID yourself and tell us how you know its crap and whats the real problem. Geeze. This site is full of ignorant, snobbish people who love putdowns and thinking theyre better than everyone else. So lets just start over and say:

IF YOURE GOING TO KENNYWOOD, THE PHANTOM IS OPERATING ONE TRAIN AND EXPECT A LONG WAIT!

I just wondered out loud who I should believe.

Maybe my jock itch due to my love of Vekoma coasters is hindering my ability to think clearly?

And now everyone knows, "THE PHANTOM IS OPERATING ONE TRAIN AND EXPECT A LONG WAIT!"

Thanks for the tip.
