Kennywood's Web site has been updated. They have a link to some Quick Time videos of Phantom's Revenge. Unfortunately, the main page announces that Phantom's Revenge will not be open until May 2001.
Since daily operation doesn't begin until May 11, I don't think this is a big problem. Also, school picnics pick up around May, so I don't think too many people will be let down.
Of course, we can only hope that the construction runs flawlessly from here on in.
I guess our Preview Day gathering will be Phantom-less, eh? ;)
Well, that means I'll have to put off my Kennywood trip to some point later in the season. Bummer... I really wanted PR to be my first ride of the season.

Allow me to second Moosh's little song here.
Its incredible of how much land and how many parts of rides they had to remove to get this in! Anyone know whether or not they are still buying houses next to the park to expand? ------------- "Autobots: Transform and roll out!"
In the new animations, the underground tunnel has seemed to disappear, yet in the still shots they are still noting the tunnel.... Is this another element that has mysteriously disappeared from the initial design because of budget and time constraints, or is it indeed still in? I personally thought it was one of the more interesting element to the re-design of the ride. They could of really played up the theming of the ride within the tunnel with intense fog and lights gelled green throughout the tunnel. This could of represented actually coming in contact with the "phantom" in the tunnel's darkness..... What's next to go....the new station facade?
I think the tunnel has been removed. I remember hearing that somewhere. due to costs issues. that is a shame - a laughing phantom voice coming through that tunnel would have been awesome.

I guess someone must have been offended by my earlier post, that has mysteriously vanished. So, I'll say it again. There is no and I do mean NO excuse for Kennywood not to have the Phantom ready for opening day. They've had more than enough time to "build" half of a coaster. In one word to describe that kind of ridiculousness. PUS!
Yeah, its taken a while to build this thing, but it's their park, they can do whatever they want. Also, the summer season really doesn't start until Memorial day!

Funny how we have so many engineers and construction managers on this site.

How did you know? It's not something I usually like to brag about because I never really thought of it being that big of a deal, but yes I have been involved in the construction of a couple of different coasters here in PA. And while I don't claim to be an expert, I certainly know beyond a shadow of a doubt, when a company is behind the 8-ball.
Oh, and yes it is their park and they can do whatever they want, but it's still pus.
