Phantom Theater question

Why doesn't PKI have the props and characters put on ebay or some kind of on-line auction for the fans of the ride to buy! I think it would be great to own a piece of that great dark ride!

Good idea! My suggestion, email and tell them upfront! Maybe possibly if they don't do that, they'll give ya a piece.

A few of us were given a unique opportunity to tour the Phantom Theater building back in August, after the demolition of the ride had already begun. I was lucky enough to be on that tour.

Anyway, Kings Island's famous marketing staff (specifically in this case Jeff and David) informed us that...

• The final disposition of the Phantom Theater props had not been decided.

• The Phantom Theater props and figures were being removed carefully so that they could possibly be re-used in another attraction.

• The props and figures are to be stored in a protected location...that is, they aren't going to dump them in a pile in the boneyard to rot away in the weather...they will be in covered storage.

• There are NO PLANS to sell/auction/give away the Phantom Theater props and figures at this time.

I wonder if they are thinking about installing the Phantom Theater in another Paramount park someday..........

Here's hoping PGA, PKD, or one of the new Paramount Parks will get a fresh new dark ride in the upcoming seasons (or one or two characters show up in Scooby's adventure at PKI). Way too much time and imagination went into the theming, figures, and props to be put to waste.

Did they tell you where the "protected location" was? It didn't look too protected to me. :)

smile...it's cheap, and people will wonder what you're up to. :)

Tinkerbell, its fairly protected but I doubt anyone would think of that location to look.

Last I heard from talking to someone there was that they hoped to sell them to another park somewhere but since the animatronics are rather dated to todays standards they might have a tough time.

Wonder if they would consider selling or donating them to a museum....or even maybe sell them to Coney Island Cincinatti since they were the offspring of Coney Island Cincinatti.

They didn't say where the stuff was going to go. My guess is that it will end up either on shelves in one of the maintenance areas, or populating a shipping container someplace (again, by "protected" the meaning is "where it won't get rained on"). At the time of the tour, most of the stuff was still in the Phantom Theater building, but it was clear it was going to have to be moved to make way for the new stuff coming in, as it was blocking the loading dock...

I have heard a few times that there will be a 3rd new attraction at PKI. Think it has anything to do with the old Phantom Theater stuff? I doubt it, but just wondered!
Cincinnati. :) Just kidding. As a resident, it annoys me when it's spelled wrong. (Or pronounced "Cincinnatah".)
