Phantom Fright Nights 10-14-02

Associated parks:
None

I visited my home park for the first time ever after labor day, and it was a wierd feeling, but it was a good kind of wierd. The park wasn't crowded, but there were people there. Actually, there have been times that I've gone when it was colder than this. Here are the highlights:

Phantom's Revenge: When I got there right after six it was a walk on. This thing was running great. My one minor problem was that on my one front seat ride it was raining, and I now believe people that rain can be a little painfull at those speeds. Later in the evening, they went to efficient two train operation, and it was less than a 30 minute wait for a front seat ride at night.

Jack Rabbit: The lines were a little shorter than an average day which meant 10 minute wait. This one ran pretty good, but I got a back seat ride that didn't quite seem up to its normal standerds, but the airtime was still great.

Racer: This one was running pretty good, except for the fact on one ride I actually won by more than an entire car length. It was pretty lopsided.

In terms of flats, Arrow 360, parritropers, Musik Express, Bear and Cure, Bumber Cars, pirate, and old mill were open. Also, people were doing skycoaster too.

I'm not overly big on the haunted stuff, but I did walk through the cemetery and the haunted house in the penny arcade In fact, I made fun of a few of the costumed people.

Anyway, I felt that for it's first attempt, Kennywood did a decent job with this. I really liked the Racer lights going halloween. However, at times they went a little heavy on the smoke. I guess I have closed out my home park for the season. One note of interest. The area were the old mini golf was all dug up. I wonder if that area is big enough for a flat though. I know nothing, but I'm just relating what I saw. I look forward to returning next year.

Edit: The date should read Oct. 11.
