PGA, your thoughts on future and present

I agree with you PT300. PGA is a nice park with average to above average rides, nice atmosphere and plenty to do if you ask me. They have a MUCH better collection of flatrides than SFMM, and lots of limits imposed upon them by the near by businesses, not to mention the airport.

Unfortunately, you not going to see large, long steel coasters at this park so get over it. If you really think about it, take away Ghostrider from Knott's and PGA has the stronger collection of rollercoasters. What the park does need is some wood from CCI. Look what that did for Knott's. I'd also like to see a Setpoint Swing Thing added to the Nick section.

Give the park a break, it's a nice park and worth a visit. Man enthusiasts can be spoiled and mean-spirited. Thank God for the GP!

Grizzly would count as junk.

Montezumma's Revenge would nock out Greezed Lightin'(for goodness sake, change the station from Tidal Wave and don't turn on brakes after the launch :()

Demon is no better than Boomerang(possibly worse with the deserting of theme, trims out of the tunnel, no more rocky caves, dried up pond, warn out paint and track, trains in the worst condition)

Jaguar/Timberline Twister are better than any of the family/kiddie coasters at PGA

and Xcelerator would beat Stealth and Vortex like a one-two knock out

You basically have Top Gun left which is Great America's only real advantage, other than that their collection is old, boring, and rusty. Great America doesn't really have enough flats to be considered a collections since they took out four of them. Great America is really a park with only a few rides above average. Most of the stuff is old and tame now.

First of all, Xcelerator is not open yet, you haven't ridden it, can't count it. Demon is a classic Arrow looper, Boomerang is a painful clone. Monte is better that Greased Lightning, but that doesn't make Greased a bad ride. As a said before(which you glossed over), PGA has a MUCH better collection of flats than SFMM, and Top Gun is B&M at their intense best. If Top Gun is too short to be considered great, than so is Xcelerator.

Look, we could sit and dog PGA until the sun goes down, what good does it do? I've been to parks with no coasters at all and had a great time, so the fact that PGA has some good ones is a blessing. No it's not a great park, so what? It's a good park that's worth a look.

Every park has room for improvement and PGA is no different, but they can't do it all in one year. The two new flats are great, Psycho Mouse is fun for kids and every year I see the park doing better. Sure they took out some flats but do you even know why? Maybe there was a good reason.

PGA also has atmosphere going for them. I can certainly say that I sense a much more friendly atmosphere at PGA than SFMW. I love both parks and they both have good things. You could knit pick any park for hours, so there's no point. I mean PGA is no Cedar Point, but it certainly is a nice family oriented park. If it did have such a bad collection of rides it wouldn't have been around this long.

You can't spell my hometown's name with out "Lame"! aLAMEda...:) He...he...I have the feeling I'm the only one laughing...I guess you had to be there...

True that DWeaver and SFMWManiax87! But why to the guy that worked therem why do you call it 'lousy' America? What was it like to work their and what did you do?
I was just trying to be funny. Anyways, I worked in the County Fair games section when I was young, and let me tell you... that was the place to be! All the hotties kicked it back there. But of course, with the cuties, came all thugs. I had to break up my fair share of gangbanger tussles. Which brings up my next point. The clientele there is mostly teenagers and young punks. At Marine World, there are more families. There is more for the kids to do, with the all the animals. They can ride the elephants and camels. The kiddie rides are better too.

Demon is no better than Boomerang(possibly worse with the deserting of theme, trims out of the tunnel, no more rocky caves, dried up pond, warn out paint and track, trains in the worst condition). Boomerang atleast has speed and doesn't bring you to a complete hault in the middle of the ride.

You know that any Intiman hyper is gonna' tear the little ones to shreads so don't fool yourself. Marine World definently has the better atmosphere, landscaping, family attractions, theme, and rides.

It's not about how the park needs improving, it's how they ruin, remove, and tame rides year after year at PGA. When Fling was replaced by an upcharge I kept calm. When they tamed Grizzly on its second season, then Tidal Wave became Greezed Lightnin' and got a trim system that is right after the launch I was hurt. When Demon's theme was only remaining theme was taken out and a second set of brakes was added. Then they removed Skyhawk, the parks best flatt ride, plus Cetrifuge and La Bomba(all replaced with upcharge attractions.) That's only the removals and modifications, I haven't got to the real downs.

hehehe, I find it funny how you said Boomerang doesn't bring you to a complete stop in the middle of the ride. LOL!

In any event, agreed to disagree here. Obvious difference of opinion. I have no problem with PGA, and no time to sit around nit-picking. They're making great moves for the park *now*, they can't go back to the past, and the last two years have seen very good improvements. Most of the things they removed were not that great anyway IMO, and even YOU say are old and rusted anyway.

By that theory, they SHOULD be removing attractions.

Look for a nice little surprise from PGA in 2003. Keep watching the land behind Top Gun.

PGA's flat ride collection isnt the greatest, but they know that, and thats exactly why they built Delirum (which is awesome) and Flying Eagles. Thats 3 Flats in two years, not bad. If they keep listening to the gerneral public (which they are) you'll see some good thing from PGA.

PGA is my home park, I love it, heck I even work for a PGA fan site!Every park has its faults, but thats doesnt mean you should bash them.

Yes I do work for the site www.greatamericanthrills.com. Thanx for asking!

I was checking out the land behind Top Gun when I was there a few weeks ago. There is a lot of room back there. I think that they could fit another coaster back there. Get rid of that meeting building that is never used.
Carr? How shure are you? :)

Todd, all I can do is smile and say trust a fellow coaster nut, and oh yeah the future of the IMAX theater is up in the air. If that goes there is even more room for a caster over in that area.

This is only a wish but PGA does have the space to add Flight of Fear clone in the old Whizzer area.

If anyone ever has any PGA question they can e-mail me. My address is on my sites staff page.

Skyhawk was great! I loved that ride. I worked in one of those rip off milk can games right next to it. There were hotties galore riding that thing. Anyways, didn't that design have lots of problems? The one at Knott's was removed too. Are there any still operating anywhere?

So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!
