Petition

Over at the forums at rollercoastertycoon.com there is a thread that has a RCT3 petition for MAC to Atari. It would be way cool to have RCT3 for MAC (well, if you have a MAC). Help Sign It!

If the 3D stuff was written with Direct3D and not OpenGL, I can almost assure you it won't happen.

^Yea, and don't they have a history of being lazy in the past? ;)

In fact the system requirements explicitly list DirectX 9 or higher. Now, that COULD be for sound and not the 3d graphics, but I wouldn't count on that. OpenGL may be great for portability to other platforms (something id Software certainly takes advantage of, for example), but most Windows games developers seem to prefer Direct3D.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

All of them are right, and i would assume the majority of customers have a "windows" operating system just for these games, because Direct 3D and Direct X 9.0 are window components for games, and I don't think that Atari or anyone will spend the money re-designing the game just for MAC. Sorry, I think this one is a loosing battle.

Yeah, Dane. I can just imagine a bunch of fat code monkeys sitting around eatting pizza. Being lazy, that's it.

You took that the wrong way. I was referring to was when I used to be into RCT there was a big petition to get a patch for the game to fix the problems in it.

This is a needless topic, most know this isn't likely and probally won't happen, why post about it? Sorry...I just think its pointless...not to offend anyone who has a MAC though!

If you think it's pointless, then why post? Bored?

The Mac market isn't huge, but strategy and sim games are the most profitable segment to port apparently, because they make up the bulk of games ported to the platform. I think they've done the entire The Sims line to this point.
