Personalized costs.

After several searches on RCDB again, and looking at CCI's, I've realized that there is a HUGE variation in cost!  I mean for some big park that builds a coaster with mabe a 100' drop and 4,000' long it's 6 mil.  But when a smaller possibly family owned park builds one with an 80' drop and it's maybe 3,500' long, it's 2 or 3 mil.  Do you think that CCI is trying to help the amusement industry with personalizing costs with the income of the park?

This is mere assumption, but with the smaller parks (Big Chief's, MIA, Silverwood, etc) you tend to see 2 or 3 CCIs in that same small park.  It would be very possible for CCI to give that park a discount if they agree to purchase another ride or 2 in the next few years.

Many factors influence coaster costs.  It is very difficult to compare apples to apples.  While there are many technical reasons why one coaster may cost more than another, the biggest difference can be just what is included in the reported number.  Parks may or may not include items not supplied by the coaster maker such as foundations, themeing, park overheads, land costs, area paving, landscaping, runoff control, permits, etc.

In the case of the 2 coasters you list though, the larger coaster should cost 50-100 percent more than the smaller one.  The cost of a coaster goes up almost with the square of the heights and lengths.  Not only does the structure get larger, but it must get much stronger as height goes up.

Don't forget the coasters at big chiefs all only have one train operation.  Thats gotta save about a mill right there I would think.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
