Perilous Plunge Testing

The ride is rumored to have been undergoing tests today. this has been confirmed by 2 people already. a boat was sent through the circuit with one lone HUMAN. maybe jack falas wanted one last ride before OTSRs.
I was there this afternoon. Didn't see any boats going so they must have done that in the morning. But I did see a number of maintainence people in the station. I couldn't tell what they were doing though as all they were doing was talking when I saw them.
There are no OTSR planned for the ride. The 4-point safety harness was proposed awhile ago, but it is unknown whether those plans were carried out or not. Testing can not proceed if the state does not approve of the changes to the ride's restraint. Let's just wait on it alright?

OTSRs on Perilous Plunge !?!? That would be wired for a water ride. Why don't they just put up a sign at the entrance that says no one over so many pounds can ride. Does it realy need the change ?

They can't say that because it's not how much a person weighs, versus thier bodily proportions. A test seat at the entrance should be more than adequate once they decide on the new restraint. There is one other ride at Knott's with a weight limit and that is Slingshot. Its limit is like 225 or something, but I've never seen many adults riding it anyway.

Knotts never had a slingshot. They had an S&S absolutely insane ride. It isn't there anymore. (and you never saw many adults riding on it??)

Anyway, it would seem that just adding a weight limit would be the best idea, but Knotts is required by the State to modify the restraints in some way to make the ride "safer."

He means slingshot as the swings, but now it's called "The Wave Swinger", but used to be called "The Slingshot", and it's max weight is either 250, or 225, I dont remember tho.

And yes Perilous Plunge will have a test seat in front of the ride, as along with Xcelerator too, and pretty soon all the rides will. And I think Perilous Plunge is getting the 4 point harness, cause a guy thats working on it says they already are having training, and it's having a 4 point harness, and he says it'll open exactally 2 weaks after Xcelerator will, so that means Perilous Plunge will open Thurs, June 20th

Well, according to The Daily Bulletin, a Inland Empire newspaper, which had a large section about the local parks this year mentioned both Xcelerator and Perilous Plunge. They said it is expected to reopen by Memorial Day after the state oks it, Plunge that is. It also mentioned that modifications are being made to the restraints for Plunge.

This article was published today FYI.

Either the newspaper article or Knotts (or both even) are being a bit too optimistic if they think it can open by Memorial Day. That's exactly eight days from now and they still have to retrofit all the boats with this new harness?! Unless all but the boat seen testing (the one without harnesses) have been updated, this isn't going to happen.
