Perilous Plunge

Went to Knotts this morning. Low and Behold, Perilous Plunge's splashdown pool was filled with water. Hope this baby gets up and running before this summer.
It's true, I'm hoping Perilous Plunge will make a reopening at the same time Xcelerator opens.

I'm wondering if Intamin will ever build another monster shoot-the-chutes like this again.

Will they ever break the 100' barrier? Will they ever break the 70 degree drop barrier?? I sure hope so... but it probably definately damaged their plans to go bigger & better for future parks.

Now we're all stuck with standard 50 foot drops again.

Intamin is in fact building another water ride similar to Perilous Plunge. It is going in some park in Europe. I have no clue on the exact specifications of the ride, but from the pictures I saw the ride was about 70 feet or taller and had a drop at about 75*. PP has a drop of 77.5*, almost vertical. I'll look for more.

PP wasn't running when we were there October '00. I am sticking with my story that, when it opens, it'll be sporting a brand new name that reflects a more...ahem, safety-concious "attitude".

Uhm, Perilous Plunge's lift height is 121 FT, so they did break the 100 FT mark for a water flume. And next, the ride's water chute is sloped at 77.8°, which is near 80 degrees already.

the other version of this ride is being built at oakwood park in wales. the design spec will be the same as PP, but in an oval layout, not a figure 8. pics here:

I hope they build more of these.

By the way, that Oakwood version is made of wood. That is just strange...

And Rollergator, the name will not change. First off, the sign is still there. Second, they are still marketing the ride like crazy on souviners all over the park.

I know the name is a little ironic these days, but its becoming a very well known one, and I don't see them changing that.

Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

I belive that once all the boats are ready and come back from rehab they will begin testing and re-open for the up-coming summer season.

CoasterMattFan,

Where do you see the oakwood version being made of wood? It sure looks like steel to me.

Dude... I was referring to IF they will ever break it again. The statement referred to the first sentence... will they ever break 100' and a 70 degree angle since the perlios plunge incident? Maybe I should have put the word "again" in there to clarify it more.
