Pepsi and Holiday World

Caffeine tends to draw the water out of your tissues. But to some degree, that is offset by the amount of liquid you consume when you drink the beverage. So while consuming mass quantities of soft drinks is not as effective at combating dehydration as drinking mass quantities of water, it's still better than drinking nothing at all.

RideMan: Parking @ Holiday World is FREE..

Lynch: That's no rumor. Pat Koch herself told me @ SRM that other parks had asked them about the pop program. I find it funny that they dub it "The Orignal" unlimited soft drink program. I guess they have linklings that some other parks will copy them soon.

Jacob: There are also caffine free drinks in there too such as lemonade and iced tea. Your body also needs to be replenished with salts and sugars.

Actually, I think what RideMan was saying was that while parking appears free, it's actually rolled into your admission price.

As for the per cap spending on drinks at other parks, given how many people don't buy soda at all, but rather rely on water fountains and the like, I wouldn't be TOO surprised if even the BIG parks weren't making much more than, say, $5/person when averaged out over the entire crowd on a given day. Now, I'm sure there are some Holiday World guests drinking soda who would have otherwise just had water, but they're paying for the soda now, too, in their admission. And people who continue to just drink water (and I for one appreciate the availability of COLD water at their Oasis stands) are still paying for that soda they're not drinking. And then people who figure they're spending less ("nothing") on drinks, are spending more on food, souvies, etc. The guests are happy, and happy guests are more likely to come back. The park wins twice without appearing greedy! Very sharp, those Kochs, as well as the friendliest people you'll meet...

The result? Holiday World gets tons of positive press and a great reputation, and that pays. I'm confident that, especially in enthusiast circles, people would take the park over any big park any day. Holiday World "gets it" when it comes to treating your guests with a special experience. I can't tell you how many other parks have completely lost this concept.

Jeff you are SO right on with that. The positive press is outstanding, completely favorable, and absolutely FREE. HW deserves all the credit they get, and more!

Greg: Unlike Jeremy, you got that spot-on with my point about Holiday World's parking fee. Their innertube rental fee as well...another "free" benefit of park admission.

Didn't someone say on this forum that Holiday World's admission price was increased the same year they offered the "free" soda? It's not a charity, and I doubt they're making less money.

I went to Holiday world, Showed my European Coaster Club pass and they gave us half price tickets. So lets work this out, free parking, half price tickets (2Adults and 1 Child) and free soda drinks and a water park (including waters rings). Holiday World staff are very polite and can not do enough to make your stay enjoyable. merchandise that is really cheap, plus two of the best wooden coasters around. (Walk Ons). Find me a park that beats that. I just can't wait until they announce their next big coaster! I will be back!!!!!!
