The peeps love my coasters, but the problem is that they refuse to ride anything but my wooden coaster, impulse, and (strangely enough) my train ride!
They walk right by the log flume and flying carpet, stating that "I want to go on something more exciting".
I knew that checking the "guests prefer more intense rides" box would make the peeps primarily flock to the coasters, but is it normal that they refuse to ride things that aren't as exciting?

Same thing happened to me. The Intensity on the ride seems to have to be over "Medium" or they will always pass it by. After checking "guests prefer more intense" while creating my scenario, I had a giga-coaster open for an entire year with not a single rider (and the Excitement rating was "High"). Seems like a bug...
Hopefully the first patch will fix this...
It really is not a bug in the game. It pushes them to have a Over 9 Preference. I had the same problems, the only solutions to this are to either build them with intensities over 9 or do not check it. If you leave it unchecked, you get about 60% Over 4, 15% Under 4, and 10% 1-3, and 15% Over 7-9. Your best bet is to leave it completely unchecked and you will be fine. They just make a bigger challenge for you to make them "more extreme".
Have you also noticed that they are a little more picky in their rides? I had a coaster for 10 years, after 9, they refused to ride it until The price was dropped $1.50, the AI is a lot better in this than the previous.
I had the same problem.. but its EASY to fix!
Just uncheck both of those boxes.. Then they will be a mixed group..

It's not a bug... it's what you chose! I forget what the number was, but in one of the RCT1 expansion packs there was a scenario like that where the excitement had to be over a certain number.
So basically, you're getting what you asked for!
