Peanuts coming to five Cedar Fair parks in 2010

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cedar Fair Entertainment Company today reported that it has reached an agreement with United Media to bring the PEANUTS characters to five more of its parks for next summer. Canada’s Wonderland, near Toronto; Kings Dominion, in Doswell, Va.; Carowinds in Charlotte, NC; Kings Island near Cincinnati, Ohio; and California’s Great America will welcome the lovable PEANUTS characters to their parks in 2010.

Read the press release from Cedar Fair.

But seriously, a university-wide e-mail reminding every entity on- (and off-)campus, that their holiday office parties, presumably using UF funds, couldn't serve delicious Coca-Cola products?

This is yet another benefit of tenure. Michigan is also a Pepsi school, and while I have not yet gotten such a note, I'll serve Coke at my group meetings if I darn well want to. They can try to fire me if they like.

Has anyone ever realized how much more delicious the fountain Coke is at Kings Island than anywhere else "on the planet"? I have a suspicion that they add extra secret ingredient (decocainized flavor essence of the cocoa leaf) to their product.

Fountain Coke is the best beverage ever created. Especially when served in a tapered Coca-Cola green glass over shaved ice.

Michigan is also a Pepsi school

Check that. I just got a note that, as of this year, Michigan Stadium is serving Coke.

Sadly, my doctor told me that caffeine irritates my inner ear, causing severe vertigo, so when I want a Coke, I have to go searching for Caffeine Free Coke. :(

It still tastes the same to me though; it's just really hard to find.

Agreed that fountain Coke really is good stuff. Except at my local Cinemark, where they get the mix entirely wrong.

How any restaurant get the mix wrong baffles me. I had the five minute training when I was a teen. It just isn't that hard to get it right, unless they are purposely making it too watery to save a couple of cents per customer.

"Unless they are purposely making it too watery to save a couple of cents per customer" is probably exactly what's going on in those cases. On the other hand, some businesses that serve soft drinks adjust the machines to add extra syrup, which is yummy!

Sometimes, they'll cut back on the carbonation in order to keep from changing the CO2 tank as often.

Of course how long will it be when parks will even bother with Coke or Pepsi? Afterall more and more people are ditching soda pop in favor of those energy drinks like Rockstar or Red Bull.

Heck last year a local school district not far from me made this BIG deal about banning Coke from their schools BUT they had no problem allowing Rockstar.

I dunno..to me it sounds like going from one "evil" to another "evil".

Actually, the BEST Coke is the true formula made with real sugar and not high-fructose corn syrup which is made in Mexico and can be found at some Costco's (green tinted bottles) or certain supermarkets in the Southwest/Southern CA areas.

As long as DK is at the Fair Pepsi isn't going anywhere...it comes with too many "perks" for the management team.

You are incorrect. When the Pepsi contract is up for the original parks, they'll consider a Coke deal, as the one the Paramount Parks has is very good to them.

I can think of a few members in "the boys club" that rather enjoy it.

And again, what's your point?

You can also get it in Canada... we make Coke and Pepsi only with sugar here. I brought a case of Canadian Coke down to the USA last month when I went to hang out with my coaster buddies.... and the Cokephile in the group was happier than a pig in **** to have some.

I gotta agree with you guys that Coke is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Pepsi.

Working at CP, and CP being a Pepsi zone, I would go down to Mejier and graba few 12-packs to keep in my room. My roomates though I was crazy when I'd drink it at room temp.

Fountain Coke. Yum. Except, IMO, at McDonalds where for some reason it's always been terrible. And it's the same wherever you go.

Ice cold Coke out of a glass bottle is always delicious too.

In our area this summer they introduced (for a limited time) Pepsi Throwback with retro packaging and made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Mt Dew, too. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven it was so good, but then a Pepsi man told me it tanked and most stores cancelled their orders, especially for the Dew. Most people found it too sweet, or something.

Coke also makes a non-corn syrup version in the US for passover. A jewish friend at work picks up a few two liters for me that time of year.
