PCW or SFDL

I am going on family vacation to Niagra Falls. I have been looking at PCW and while they have some amazing flat rides, it does not look like they have a very good coaster selection. I know S:ROS is an amazing ride and would make a trip to Darien Lake worth it, but I want to make sure I am not passing up a good park with PCW. I will be going with my dad and he can not ride their giant frisbee, as outward spinnming motion makes him sick and would rather ride coasters than flats. Is PCW still worth it? I can only go to one park as we are going on two other trips that my mother is resenting already.

"Punks are non-conforming conformists." "Preps rock my Docs." "Tell them about how I'm defying gravity. God! I can't get that song out of my head."
If I recall correctly, PCW has something like 12 or 13 coasters. Granted, they're not all stellar quality (I mean, it IS Canada after all ;)), but there's a damn good wild mouse, two good woodies, a couple classic Arrows (including a great suspended), and a kiddie wood coaster that makes a lot of full-size woodies look positively shameful. They also do have a great collection of flat rides and shows. It's a very nicely balanced park, and an excellent choice for a family.

On the other side of the coin, I've never been to SFDL so perhaps someone else could offer some insight on that end...

[Nitro Dave -- Track Record: 231 coasters] A Rapturous Verbatim & A Tournament of Lies -- my blogs...they're blogtastic.
Well both are good parks, it depends on what you are into. If you like flats, go for PCW most definently. SROS at Darien is a great ride, Predator is Really good (But, only in the front seat) and Viper is OK. PCW has more coasters but theyre not all great, and remember next year theyll have a flyer. Boomerang and ME have clones at PCW.

Darien Will have smaller lines but not that many rides.

If it were me, Id go to PCW just because theres more to do, but Darien if I wanted a good hyper.

It should be a "without a doubt" type debate that you should definately hit Canada's Wonderland in a heartbeat over Darien Lake...

Darien Lake only has one stellar coaster, which is Superman... and a nice laser light show... but just about everything else, Wonderland offers, and then some (including flats).

You've definately got to try out Tomb Raider: The Ride, their new flying coaster by Zamperla... especially if you haven't tried the one at Elitch Gardens, because it's got to have some good points to it aside from the name (unless the name is the bad part!).
Their flats are DEFINATELY worth it because they have THE best collection in North America... possibly the world with the awesome likes of Mondial's giant rides... their Psyclone, Shockwave, Cliffhanger, and Sledge Hammer (yes, it's a Huss Giant)... not to mention just about any other flat you can think of around every single corner!
Psyclone (the outward giant frisbee like ride) is TOTALLY not nauseating. I rode it like 3 or 4x and it was uber-smooth because it doesn't spin all that rapidly unlike a standard Huss Frisbee (which I got really sick off of)... same goes with their other rides... all very smooth, and none that'll make you wanna throw up after coming off of it.

The coasters are just standard-fare, but I found Vortex to be insanely fun and their woodies are also really great... They have one of the last TOGO Stand-Ups which is either a curse or a blessing, along with a few other mixes... which makes this park really have one of the best varities in the world (just not the best rides).
The landscaping & up-keep of the park is also top-notch... I was blown away when I walked into the park last year because it was my first time... but you may also be blown away by the food prices... because even for Canadian prices (remember, the dollar is falling & falling), it was still pretty high.

Without a doubt, Wonderland is the park you want to visit... the Spongebob 3D, coasters, huge-ass waterpark, excellent flats & great landscaping will keep you craving for more the next time.

Hmm that's all well and good, but what does coasterdude318 have to say on the matter. That's who I would want to hear from. ;)

But seriously, that's a tough decision just because Superman is better than anything at PCW. It's really a fantastic coaster but I think overall collection of rides and attractions, I'd have to say go to PCW. The flats, as stated before, are phenomenal. Vortex is really good (my fav suspended ever) and I like the Togo stand up too. Also, they have a sweet Intamin Giant Drop for your adrenaline rush pleasure, too.

I'd say go to PCW.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Well, PCW is my home park, so I can tell you ALOT about it. First off, everyone is correct, there is definitly a great selection of rides at the park, a little something for everyone. The coasters are all mediocore, except for Vortex, it's pretty awesome. The waterpark is pretty good, no Schlitterbahn, but still good. Just be sure that you get to the park as soon as it opens, starts filling up by 12:00 no matter what the day, and avoid Saturday's if at all possible, lines get ridiculously long (2 hours for an SLC). Also try to get to the water park early, that gets busy fast too.

As for Darien Lake, I've been to it once, but that was before it ever became a Six Flags park. The 2 rides that stand out in my mind the most there were the log flume, and rapids ride. I remember them being lots of fun (at the time I wouldn't ride roller coasters, how stupid was I?!).

Hope that helps you in your decision choices, and if you've got anymore questions about PCW than email me, and I'd be more than willing to help you out.

Roller coasters are more than just rides, they're a reason for living

Oh yes, how could I have forgotten about Drop Zone. PCW def. There will be way more to do and it will be more enjoyable. Vortex is awesome, one of the best arrows Ive been on. And the Togo Stand-up is pretty good. Not to mention they have the best waterpark in the area.
