PC's Hurler back to it's "Most Excellent" self

Many people besides myself noted that when Carowinds opened this year, Hurler was running real slow and wasn't delivering the airtime that it usually does. It had gotten a bit better as time went on, but it was still lacking the airtime it had last year.

I'm happy to report that it's BACK! It looks like Carowinds' maintenance staff has spent some time giving it some TLC - the track looked greased, and there was new wood in all the turns. The train wasn't losing speed through the turns like it had been earlier this season.

It's now back to delivering great air on all but that last hill - with standup ejector air on the 2nd and 4th hills in the front car. It seems smoother as well. I was grinning the whole day after riding that thing over and over.

I've always been impressed by the way Carowinds maintains it's wood (aside from not painting Thunder Road) so was actually quite shocked when Hurler was running so poorly. My faith in them has been restored in a BIG way.

You're locked and ready to fly!

Now lets hope PKD will hear this and decide to do the same. I've ridden PCar's Hurler many times, and though I though it got a bit rougher over the years, PKDs actually made me hurt, and made me sick.

On a side note, are the TVs still in the queing line @ PCar that show clips from the movie and tips for the ride? The last time I was @ PKD, they had removed them.

Yeah, if coasters WEREN'T men we'd have Raging Cow instead!;)

Those have been gone for a couple of seasons, at least Scorpion.

Is it the real yellow or the yellow that they had on the coaster cars??

Wow, seriously? Lord help you if you ride a woodie like SoB or Cyclone. ;)

I've always thought Hurler (both of them) was a pretty average (and tame) coaster. It has a little air and some nice, fast, highly-banked turns, but it's never really 'done it' for me. Strangely, though, I'm looking forward to riding Thunder Run in a few weeks, simply because I've heard from many different people that it's one of the best coasters at SFKK. Not sure why it gets more praise, since it essentially has the same layout as the Hurlers, but maybe Curtis and Chuck knew a little something that IC, Inc. didn't.

Have you ridden a Toboggan?

It's heads and shoulders better than either Hurler. I thought the exact same thing as you.

Careful what you say about Cyclone! That's my baby! ;)

C'mon, Homey, how could I speak negatively of Cyclone? It's my #2 wood! I was just concerned for TeknoScorpion--if he thought Hurler was rough, Cyclone would tear him apart, lol... :)

Haha, just checking.. I HAVE heard negative things from folks about it. Although I wonder what could possibly be better, you're A-ok in my book! :)

Well, I'm sure Legendary, Homey, and ScorcherBoy could tell you HOW enthused I was after that last front ride on Hurler last weekend. They had just left the ride, and were leaving the ramp, when they heard some lunatic (me) yelling as we hit the brake run. The upstops were spinning like CRAZY....guess we spent some time riding on 'em, eh...;)

PKD's Hurler, end of last season, was fun, but NOTHING like that....I absolutely love high-speed, high-banked turns....and Hurler's got em....:)

P.S. Thw Wayne's World theming was s'posed to have disappeared a couple years ago, right? Guess Wayne and Garth aren't leaving *that* easy, LOL...
