Pay At Universal Studios

Mangos? Man they really under pay you guys out in California. You should see what they make here in Missouri -- especially at SDC. ;)
Well, with the cost of living in farm country, which pretty much covers everything between NYC and LA, than Silver Dollar City should be paying $4 mangos per hour to $7 mangos per hour in Burbank.
Well considering everyone just lives in high rises right across the street from the park in LA and NYC, there is no need for the parks to pay the employees very much because they can walk to the park. I mean since everyone lives in apartments anyway right.

I heard that if you work for the park for five seasons and that if all of your evaluations are good, you can get promoted to melons.

This off-season is killing me and it's only December! *** Edited 12/8/2005 5:06:54 AM UTC by Richie Reflux***

I don't know what the pay is exactly, but I promise its more than 6.35. The minimum wage is at least 6.75 in California (maybe more).

And I think the pay is actually in apricots, if I remember correctly (because its Hollywood and they do everything a little differently there!). ;)

Yeah apparently many coaster and park lovers here don't even like talking about coasters. Heaven forbid you should call them enthusiasts..Ghah!

What type of melons? Honeydew? Cantelope? Watermelon? etc?

See I think why everyone was going with Mangos is because it is an exotic fruit and it is in an exotic locale. ;)

I wish Coasterbuzz wasn't a coolness contest. I would like to think that it's about discussing coasters and parks with other coaster and park lovers, not crying because someone asked a question that may or may not be found by searching or making a phone call. I like discussions.

I just read this and cannot believe you even said that about CBuzz. This board is not nearly as bad as a lot of the others that I have lurked on. SwillNetwork is a lot worse with "answers" to questions being "I don't know" and so on. Like that is helpful. AND if you think that the retorts to such question are pathetic -- you should see WDWMAGIC. These replies are harmless -- especially compared to the pancake thread that we had awhile ago.

Mmm...mango pancakes.

The beauty of being paid in mangos is that you don't have to account for cost of living. 5 mangos is 5 mangos, regardless of what gas/milk/hamburger costs.

The kids at WDWMagic are amateurs. They're all bark, no bite; though it can be a mean-spirited bark at times.

Truth be told, 90% of threads that get hijacked are no good for discussion anyway.

They are either started for purposes of trolling or have a simple answer that everyone knows and repeats 20 times or that no one knows, which will also be repeated 20 times. In other words, nothing interesting is coming out of these types of threads.

If a thread is good for discussion, usually that will happen. If not, then the members will replace the topic with a more interesting one. ;)

Nice answer Matt :) Have a mango :) oh heck it's Christmas and I'm feeling generous..Have two mangos. :)
My question is -- do they take out seeds for social security and other benefits at Universal Studios or do they just take the whole mango? :)

get hijacked

Wait! Are you saying that this thread go hijacked? ;)

Watch out for the marshalls if you try to hijack too many threads ;)

Watch the tram car please....

Considering that most theme parks start most hourly employees at or near minimum wage...

Minimum wage in California is $6.75/hour. The only exception is within San Francisco Ordinance, where it is $8.50/hour. But, Hollywood is in L.A., so that won't apply (unfortunately).

Also keep in mind premium pay.
-Daily: Time and a half for every hour worked over 8 hours, double time for over 12 hours

-Weekly:Time and a half over 40 hours. 7th day: First 8 hours, time and a half; over 8 hours, double time.

In regards to cost of living, housing is very expensive. Everything else is on par with anywhere else you would go, except things like gas and auto insurance. So if you can find roomates, you could probably swing it. Just keep in mind $1000/month for an old studio apartment is more often the norm rather than the exception.

Mmmm...Melons.
I just pulled a Homer Simpson. I was reading danimales post and, well this is what happened...

Considering that most theme parks start most hourly employees at or near minimum wage...I wonder what would be like to be paid in mangos..... The only exception is within San Francisco Ordinance, where it is.... I wonder if there any other exotic fruit that is worth more. But, Hollywood is in L.A., so that won't apply...what about Kiwi, that's exotic...

Yeah that's pretty much what happened only more drawn out and now I am hungry for fruit salad. :)

Trainees get grapes. Interns get raisins.

Having someone to share expenses with won't be much of a problem. I want to move to be closer to my boyfriend. Like only an inch between us closer.
