According the Northwest Herald (a local Chicago are newspaper), the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center in (or near) Bimidji, MN is to be closing at the end of this year. I could not find the article in the online section of the newspaper but it was in the Thursday June 19 print edition. In it they were discussing what will become of the Paul Bunyan statue and the other statues if they get sold seperately.

Of interest to this site according the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center website, this facility does have a roller coaster. The particular roller coaster however is not listed on the Coasterbuzz database. I was able to find it listed with photographs on RCDB and the roller coaster does appear to be a neatly themed kiddie coaster.

If you are in the area of the park, be sure to check it out just in case my local newspaper is correct.

Argh! I was just reading about this on CNN.com yesterday and now I can't find the freakin article. The two statues of Paul Bunyon and Babe have been sold seperately. The ox is moving to the bowling alley about two miles away called the Blue Ox Bowl, and Paul Bunyon is moving to some nature park somewhere. Wish I could find the article.
Actually it is the one in Brainerd at the amusement park. Sad, because I rode my first coaster there. It was also great because the statues were located as you entered the park and if your parents gave them your name, Paul would welcome you to the park. Bemidji also has statues but they are located in a city park on the lake(they can be seen on one of the post cards in the opening credits of Nat'l Lampoon's Vacation).
