Patch #1 for RCTGL demo released

I fixed the problem all you Win95, 98, 98:SE, and ME users are seeing.

1) Download this file: http://www.progoth.com/~darkhelmet/rctgl/demos/milestone3/patch1/RCTGL.exe

2) Replace the existing RCTGL.EXE with the one you downloaded above

3) Run the program either from the start menu, or by double-clicking on RCTGL.EXE

If you haven't installed RCTGL yet, do the following:

1) Download and install http://www.progoth.com/~darkhelmet/rctgl/demos/milestone3/setup.exe

2) Follow all steps above to install the patch

Here's how you navigate once you're in the program:
Up / Down / Left / Right arrows - move forward, backwards, left, right
W / S / A / D - the same as above, but in larger steps
Page Up - move up
Page Down - move down

You can change the way you are looking by moving the mouse. When you move, you go in the direction you are facing. If you want to move the mouse but don't want to change your perspective, hold down the right-mouse-button.

That's it. I'm almost done adding the complete river ride and log flume, so expect a patch for those in the near future.

It still looks like a bunch of lines. Am I doing something wrong?

copy and paste the new RCTGL.exe thing in the RCTGL folder that you have. It should then work.

Have you downloaded the new patch? If not, http://www.progoth.com/~darkhelmet/rctgl/demos/milestone3/patch1/RCTGL.exe there it is.

Once you download that, put it in the RCTGL folder that was created when you first "unzipped" the RCTGL thing.

Can someone help me, whenever I open it up two windows come up, one with a bunch of little typing, and one with some graphics, and a checklist of loading stuff. Than it just sits there.

RubberDucky: It's working correctly. When the program starts, it pre-loads all the graphics it will need. After it's done loading everything, you need to open a park manually. You do this by going up to the File menu and going to Open.

If you want to load another park, you go back up to File - Open and select your new park.

ok, I downloaded the patch and saved it in the place of the original and I still get lots of lines. What's wrong here? Also, it freezes after about 5 secs. in the program.

When I started the program, I can see the trees, and buildings, but not the rides. Why is that?

When I get the game loaded, the screen starts checking off things like edges and surfaces. Then that screen goes away and a new one come that says RCTGL-Milestone3. Then I can't do anything else. I have already downloaded the patch. What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks

and it goes REALLY REALLY slow when I want to look around...

Now I just downloaded the patch and it goes to the same screen, without the letters on it! It just has blank spaces where the letters should be.

Hey cdrpointcrazy, my problem was just not opening the park. That was mainly cuz I had no idea what this thing was. Come to think of it, what is this? Could someone explain?Also, did you install the patch right, cdrpointcrazy4? You need to save over the rctgl.exe file.

Mathyou, it is okay. Everyone just doesn't have as much common "since" as you:). I made the same mistake but that was mainly because I had no idea what this was.

MikeMir: RCTGL requires a fast computer and video card. If you don't have either of these, then you won't have a good framerate at all. This program is very experimental

Mathyou: You can't see all the rides because they're not all in the game yet. I haven't even thought about how I'm going to add the complex steel coaster elements yet

Ditto: RCTGL is a 3D viewer for your RCT saved games. You can experience your park from a peep's perspective. It's still very early in development, but there is finaly something tangible to play with.
