Passing of a CP Icon

I'm catching up on news and read that Mr. Lee Jewett passed away this past weekend. For those who don't know, Mr. Jewett retired as Vice President of Planning and Design for Cedar Point but worked there for nearly 40 years. Many of our favorite design elements at the park happened under his direction. Two of the most significant: the cupola on the top of the Blue Streak lift hill and the corkscrew elements over the midway of the Corkscrew. He also designed the CP&LE train station (his first design job at Cedar Point).

Lee (and his wife) gave back to the community. The Sports Medicine Center as the CP Sports Center is named in his honor (they gave $1 million to Firelands Hospital. You can find some additional information about Lee at https://www.foundationforfirelands.com/foundation/donor-stories/lee...ra-jewett/

I only worked at CP for a short time but I did get to know Lee a little. What I will remember most about him was that he was a good man. People enjoyed working for him and he just seemed to really enjoy his job. Why not? I'm sure many of us in these forums would have LOVED to HAVE his job.

I just wanted to share a little about his passing because I can't walk the park and not see his handprints all over it.

I had heard the name but wasn't sure of what all he had done at the park. What a great career and lasting legacy his work has on the park.
