Parks with crappy anoying music

My home park is SFGAm and they play really annoying music sometimes, like little kids playing or pigeons or something :/, and some wierd march happy fun thing. it really gives the good good vibe of the good ol' park, but after two hours in line playing the same song, it is realy annoying. does your park play good or crappy music that will give you a headache?

I think all parks play crappy music. It can never be the slightest bit 'objectionable'

No, I think Six Flags Great America has cool music. It is in an upright beat (except for fright fest).
I know this one park with really annoying music. For some odd reason they have a big sign in the Northwest corner that says Roller Cosomethingorother Tyidontremember...? O and i do remember them having a wood twister and some sort of beach or something.

Anybody know what im Talking about...even though its not real? *** This post was edited by joey isch on 5/9/2001. ***
For the pigeons are you refering to Batman's exit? I'll never forget the first time leaving that ride it did sound like little kids yelling....strange..I like the music in Southwest territory the best, THE music is cool but after a while it is annoying in the off season you miss it-

Six Flags Great America, the only park in the world where you can swing your feet on 3 Roller Coasters and 4 rides-
The music at Islands of Adventure is awesome. Each island has its own unique score. This really adds to the ambience of the island. I have the CD - it is one of my favorites.

What is annoying? WHo gets do define annoying?

What might be annoying to one patron is good to others. While you might want more "current" tunes, you have to remember one basic thing. Amusement parks are "family" entertainment. And unfortunately, current music trends are not family friendly.

Personally, I like marching band music. But I can't stand the likes of Eminem, Britney, Christina, Puff Daddy (or P. Diddy or whatever he wants to be called now). And thankfully, I don't have to listen to them - with the exception of Britney - you hear her voice coming out of the game booths once in a while.

I agree that good park music is rare. I think it's especially bad when there is music video stuff or a DJ playing requests. The only crap that ever gets played is top 40 and hip-hop and the like. There's nothing wrong with playing such noise, it's just that I really hate it. One hour in a line with that stuff blaring is enough to make me want to curl up and die.

Ick. SFWoA plays this awful MIDI soundtrack just about everywhere. especially near the front of the park.

Don't touch the watch.
"Least Objectionable Program" is one thing. What I heard at Americana back in '98 or '99 or whenever it was I was last there was something else entirely. Actually, it was unusual enough that it was almost kind of neat. It seemed they had stuck a copy of the Carpenter's greatest hits album in and set the sound system for "endless repeat". By the end of the day I was thinking that if I heard "Top of the World" again I'd be ready to stick a finger down Karen Carpenter's throat. Er...oh, that's right. Never mind, then.

(Dave wonders how many readers will understand why that is in very bad taste.)

I think Cedar Point has changed the equipment they use for in-park music because it sure seems like it repeats more often than it used to...

Redman 822,
I decide what's annoying. No really, I do. I've got a neat little certificate stating thaT I've been properly trained in identifying annoying music. It's got a neat little signature and testifies that I know what it's like to be annoying. THerefore, I am the perfect judge of what's annoying. SO yes, there is someone who gets to decide what is annoying and that someone is I.
Rideman: *I* understand why, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

And every park I've been to plays crap music. Whether it be some gosh-awful county/western, overplayed pop, or toned-down rap it all pretty much sucks. I understand that they want to play something for "families", but most "families" think that the music is trash too! I say they take a page from the old Warner Bros. & MGM cartoons and just play classical music.

--However, they have to keep Prince's "PartyMan" playing in the Batman: The Ride queue...
In this modern day of MP3's, etc there is really no excuse why a park can't have cycles of way more than an hour or two. I'm not saying that they should go download free songs, but I'm saying that they could make playlists using MP3's (ripped from their own CD's) which are several hours in length and not even need a DJ to tend to them. If there can't be a DJ, why not a PC with Winamp pumping out the Tunes? :)

Because those tunes would suck. I like the classical music suggestion. It's not very good, but it doesn't offend many either.

Dave, I got it and I think it's hilarious. Kinda off-color but hilarious nonetheless.

I have always thought that parks should have like a in park tv station. They could have cams that shows parts of the park, promote shows coming up and have a host going around the park, but mostly they could have a dj or music videos. SFMM does something simaler to this but it is not really paid attention to by the park. It is basically about a 45 minute tape playing in some ride's queue's and is real quiet except for Ninja.

My home park of PGA I love the music! I really don't like pop but love Hip Hop , Rock, techno, classical, and now 80's music! I like it becuase it puts me in the park mood when I listen to it and give's PGA and incredible atmosphere. I think park's should just have a computer with Napster on it and just have it continuously play the list but too bad Napster's main artest's aren't there.

That's a good idea. I think people would love to see themselves on TV!

PGA used to have good music. It was themed for the area. Now they have top 40 crud that is played too loud (although anything within the range of human hearing would be too loud given their selection!)

I love the music at IOA, SFAGm's music is ok, but i am saying like when you have been standing in line for an hour and there has been a continuous loop of the same song, that is annoying. what are you talking about defining annoying redman? Annoying is annoying, why is your name redman if you hate rap anyway? Just curious, i mostly like the music at parks until you have been hearing it for an hour. ya know what i mean?

I like it when parks have TV's that play music videos while in line. I don't know why, I just do. It gives me something to remember the park, or ride by. Whenever I heard Vitamin C's "Me Myself and I" I'll think of SFMM's Revolution. Also, whenever I hear The Bangles "Manic Monday" I'll think of PKI's King Cobra and Face/Off. I don't necessarily like those songs, but they remind me of coasters, so it's all good ;)
