I live in Illinois and I was wandering if there is any other good amusment parks here besides SFGam? Oh, there is Kiddieland, but is there anymore?

I haven't rode any of em'

SFGAm is the only one for thrills.

Other parks in Illinois are:

Kiddieland

Santas Village and Racing Rapids

Safari Land

Wild West Town

Hillcrest Park (private outings only).

Do a search and you will find the websites for these parks.

This should help: http://www.rcdb.com/treeview.htm?continent=1&country=2&state=21

Note that some of those are defunct parks.

Well, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but SFSTL isn't very far from the border of IL. I live in Illinois, too, (Near St. Louis) and i can get to SFSTL in about an hour. And if you are in, like, Columbia or East St. Louis Illinois, you can probably get there in 30 minutes. So even parks that aren't in Illinois can still be close. Wow, that's probably not what you wanted to hear at all, but oh well. lol!

I thought it interesting that when I told MapQuest that I wanted to go to an "amusement park" in "Gurnee, IL", Great America showed up on the *third page* of possible options in the Chicagoland area.

Most of the options weren't really amusement parks as we know them, but still.....

The WI Dells arent far from the Chicago area (2-3 hr drive NNW) and is home to three CCI woodies and some great waterparks.

Summer 03-CP, HP, SFDL, SFNE, SFWOA, and SFGAm.

The Dells are worth a visit, but you won't make it in two hours. Even from SFGAm (which is about as northern Chicago as you can get) it's almost three hours.

I can make it in three hours from the the south burbs at the Indiana border at slightly faster than the posted limit.

There are several parks within a four-ish hour drive including Indiana Beach, Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Point. Pushing the limit are Advnetureland, SFStL, Holiday World, SFKK, PKI. The Chicago area is a pretty good place to be if you're an enthusiast.

Even at 80mph, it's more than an hour and a half to SFGAm from Madison, and the Dells are 45 miles north of that. Add in an hour through Chicago and there's no way you can make it to the Dells in 3 hours from southern Chicago. No way.

To clarify, on average (at "slightly faster" than the speed limit), it takes me an hour to get to the Dells from Madison, and two hours to SFGAm from Madison. That's three hours right there, and that doesn't include driving *through* Chicago.

-Nate

Dude, coming from the south, I pass nowhere near GAm on my way to the Dells, unless I want to go about 60 minutes out of my way! So, there you go...a little over 3 hours to the Dells.

And I've been doin' it since before you were born, whippersnapper! ;-)
