Parking Tax?

Just heard on the news that Sandusky may impose a parking tax on all cars that utilize the parking lot at Cedar Point. It wasn't mentioned how much they would get, but it was mentioned that Sandusky gets 3% (about $1.26 for single day) on every admission to the park. Would this mean even higher fees for parking?

Sandusky only gets 3%. Montgomery County gets 10% on every admission to SFA.
Of Course Jim you meant to say Prince George's County not Mo County, but we get your point ;)

Are you kidding?? About a parking tax at CP...

They either A) added info to the story or B) I wasn't paying attention. My guess is B.

Cedar Point is the ONLY business in Sandusky that they are trying to get this *parking tax* revenue from. CP is against it (quite obviously) most likely due to the fact that they get the tax off of the admissions as it is.

I'm have never been to CP, so I don't know how much it is for parking. But it is quite easier just to hand the attendent the exact amount in bills, as opposed to waiting for her to open up the cash register and getting change out.

Go AVS!!! AVS will repeat!!!

I saw a story about this on Channel 3 here in Cleveland. They said that parking prices are likely to go up again. But I don't know, $8 is high enough as it is.

Well, even if there is a tax, you can rest assured that the parking price will be rounded to the nearest (probably higher) dollar. For example, if the tax is 3%, the parking fee would be about $7.77 and the tax would be 23 cents making the total $8. The more likely scenario would be $8.74 and 26 cents for a total of $9. $8 is the current CP parking price by the way - $7.50 parking and 50 cents causeway toll. Its getting up there. CP used to be right in line (or maybe a bit below average) with their parking price, but $8 is pretty steep compared to many other places.

Personally, I think Sandusky should realize that without CP, there is practically no reason for anyone to go there. No need to piss off the company that makes the economy in your town go.

I fool so feelish....

They'd tax your rear end if they could. We had an experience with bad taxes in San Antonio on the CZ trip. Apparently, our rooms went up on the last day due to a stadium tax. I'm sorry, but we went to San Antonio for Sea World, Fiesta Texas, and Shlitterbahn, not some stadium that'll stand for 15 years and get demolished for a new stadium when the owner threatens to leave town. Do I sound bitter?

Wow. . .$8 at CP! I like the prices over here at the German parks. At most parks, you just drive right into the parking lot and head inside the parks - it's free. There are a few exceptions though. For example, at Holiday Park, parking is 2 euros ($1.80) and at the biggest park in Germany, Europa Park, parking is only 3 euros ($2.70).

My thoughts exactly... Years ago there were several large income producing businesses in Sandusky. Now it seems there is absoutley nothing there but CP and the hotels, resturants, etc. Sandusky should be kissing CP's butt... but, then again, it's not like CP can just move to a different city...

Jess... as for CP being the only business Sandusky is trying to get this tax from... who else WOULD they get it from???
