Park Pet Peeves

What are some of the things that happen at parks that just really make you angry? Personally, I cannot stand it when people who are not disabled use the Handicap access line. I am fine with the system until I see a group of kids come up the ramp, with one in a wheelchair. It is all good until the kid in the wheelchair jumps up and runs to the coaster car. Then, when they get back, a different kid gets into the wheelchair. Not only is this unfair to those of us who waited in line, but it also makes people ridicule and harass those who are actually disabled. I realize that parks really have no way to regulate this, but it just really gets under my skin.

So, what things that happpen at parks really get on your nerves?

P.S. Just in case, this was in no way an attack on any disabled person or assistance system. It is just an attack on those who abuse these systems.

I really hate it when you've been waiting in line for a long time and a bunch ofpople start coming through the line saying, excuse me excuse me, and they cut everyone I really hate that!!!

Also I hate it when ride op's go really slow and they do is go really slow checking seatbelts or other things.

Robbe - that's when you spread your arms out, grab a rail on each side of the queue, and hold on. They'll stop right there.

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

Mustang,

I also don't care for those that take advantage of a wheel chair policy. Once I got a group kicked out of a park for faking it. They would never have gotten kicked out if they hadn't asked for the back seat on Vortex after they had just asked for the back seat on The Beast......both of which I was waiting for the back seat also. Funny thing is, they admitted it once the ride operator asked about it.

Another thing I can't stand is basketballs. Personally, I think they should be deflated so they can't be bounced around a park. I have seen to stray basketballs knock onto a table and spill drinks on folks.

Folks who do nothing about whinning about how boring a ride is while standing in line for it also get on my nerves at times. I just don't understand why someone would want to get on a ride they dislike so much when they have every option not to ride it.

The worst thing though IMO is line jumpers. I can't stand them and usually try to stop them. I will admit that a few times it has gotten pretty ugly (as Rideman can verify), but I still think it was worth trying to at least stop them regardless if they get by. Usually they end up getting on the ride all ticked off and can't enjoy it. .

Robbe- I totatlly agree! I hate that when they say "Someone is saving my spot" or "I am with them". I waited in line for two hours so should they! Another pet peeve is when people bump into you and don't say excuse me or anything, even if it is completly their fault. I say it whenever I bump into someone, wheater it is my fault or not, they could at least say it when it is their fault.

Line jumpers I think are almost all of our top pet peeves. I can't stand the people that do that. Chaindog's method works best, but so does standing two people shoulder to shoulder, and the more groups of two, the better. Usually if you can stop a person, and start yelling at them, people will at least start giving the jumper dirty looks... you know, nobody wants to wait a minute longer... however, if lots of people jump, it can become considerably more than a minute.

Another one of my peeves are people who shake handrails... Whats up with that?

Less than 2 months until SFGAm opens!

I'm sure this summer will be people who sit on the handrails, so if any of you are visiting VF stay off the rails or face the wrath of a ride op :)

Personally, there's a few things that irk me greatly, and all of them are in abundance at my home park, SFNE. The first is when a ride doesn't run to it's full capacity, or is shut of at random. This happens all the time, especially at Six Flags parks. Even before the Superman crash, there were still days when they only ran one train. This easily adds an hour onto the wait time. They also do it with Scream (S&S tower). I know they do it to save money, and also there's nothing i can do about it because obviously I drove all the way out there, i'm going to ride Superman regardless of the wait time. That's what annoys me is that they know it annoys people and they do it anyways, because they sort of have you by the... well, you know.
Ok, got a little carried away. The other things that annoy me are people who fight in line. And i mean literally fight. Last summer, there was this kid who snuck on the bumper cars twice in a row. The ride OP went after the kid and kicked him off the ride - fine. But then the kid's parents assaulted the ride op! And then, someone from line started a fight with those parents! It was like an all out brawl, and it made everyone else very uncomfortable. Seriously, if you can't behave yourself, don't come into the park.
One last thing is people who graffitti or "tag" the queue lines. I'm not trying to sound like an angry grandmother - i think grafitti has it's time and place and is an interesting art form. But all writing "JK & DL '01" on the railing does is make the park spend money on repainting that they might have spent on rides, or staff to run the rides better.
OK, so remind me not to reply to any more topics that involve pet peeves... =).
I know its not a general park peev, but I can't stand listening to poeple talk about "The Millennium". First of all, theres no" The" in the name, second of all its Millennium Force.

"Ruba dub dub, thanks for the grub...yay god!"

I really hate it when I'm like "Dude, I thought I had the park all to myself", and then like there's all these other stupid people surrounding and annoying me.
-------------
The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.
Being forced to listen to Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Agulera, Nsync, and other awful "artists" while you're all ready bumming because you're in a long line. Nothing is worse than that.

Gotta love it when the 2 most unattractive people in the park are licking eachother for the whole duration of your wait right in front of you. the whole "Get a room" suggestion has gotten pretty cliche, unfortunately.

And on a more serious note I hate it how six flags never gives my park a chance! I just emailed them and told them they needed to build a B&M because those rock! and how if they knew what was good for them they would build one that was 300 feet tall and was superintense and had 13 loops because that would be awsome and B&M could do it. And I also emailed them to see if any of our coasters are getting lapbars this season and my friend just emailed themn asking that, too, and my other friend, and my other friend, and we all got the same answer! That is so lame!!!11

If the shoe fits, find another one.

Here's a big one at SFNE. Smoking in the queue lines. OMG, that gets me so mad. Especially when they are enclosed. Its even worse when its pot. There should be a rule against smoking in queue's period; not just "enclosed" queue's. I really don't feel like being 5 inches away from some guy that I don't even know while he's puffing his lung killer in my face. SFNE really needs to do something about this.

Line jumpers and people who smoke in line are my biggest pet peeves. I've actually been called a B**CH for not letting someone past because "my sister is up there." Boo hoo!! Next time get in line with her.
Line jumpers, and the ball bouncers are right up there on my top ten list. Also, standing in line behind a couple of really young kids that can't make a sentence without using the "F" word every other word. I always find myself wondering if they know how stupid they sound, or do they really think they're cool? Guess it never occurs to them they're the only ones, out of all those people, talking that way.

Line jumpers, people who smoke ( I have even seen ACE'rs at SFWoA smoke in line at BKF once :( ) and people who write grafitti on walls. Thats all I can think of now.

My major pet peeve are people who litter. People who throw trash on rides, between rides, under rides, on their way in and on their way out. Leave your crappy habits at home and take care of your parks. Some of these same people then write trip reports on how dirty a particular park is. It really irks me! Park employees are already over worked for very little money, they don't need you throwing your crap on the ground with a garbage can less then twenty feet away from you.

-----------------
Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

I hate the basketball ghetto guys they piss me off.

I am also jacked and do not let anyone cut me in line.

-----------------

I agree 100% with all of these.

Here's my addition: When you are walking down the midway holding hands with your significant other, or even just walking beside a friend, and some huge group decides to walk right between you. Can't you go around?
