The master plan unveiled Monday by the Medina County Park District for the old amusement park does include the fabled Ferris Wheel. The park district's long-range goal includes using the skeletal remains of the Ferris Wheel as a sculpture in the middle of a traffic circle in the park.

I remember that Ferris wheel, mainly because it was billed as the “World’s Fastest Ferris Wheel”. And I believe it was. It. was a standard cable-driven Eli wheel (or something similar) but it was more like a Rock o Plane with open air cars. The seats didn’t actually flip but came darned close. I don’t think I’ve ever heard screams coming off of a Ferris wheel like that. I was a small kid and I wanted nowhere near it.
It’s been there on the edge of the lake for decades, rusting away. It deserves to be saved but may actually be notable for a peculiar reason.
