Paramount's Kings Island's 2001 lineup announced

Paramount's Kings Island posted the list of 2001 attractions on their website. The new attractions include the world's first inverted junior coaster (built by Vekoma), a rethemed Kings Mills Log Flume, now called the Wild Thornberry's River Adventure and The 7th Portal, a motion simulator adventure replacing the Iwerks attraction "James Bond 007: A License to Thrill." A rethemed, and possibly renamed Outer Limits coaster announcement was expected by many in the coaster website community, but as of yet, there has been no official word from the park. The press release can be seen on PKI's official site.

coastersrz...What more are you looking for? The Media Page on PKI's site says pretty much all there is to say. Some of the media is saying that Thornberrys River Adventure is replacing Kings Mills Flume, they probalby won't mention much more than that. We have 2 false rape accusations, a cop that hit a suspect with his car, and a major drug sweep in the news today, I doubt the media will spend a great deal of time on getting detailed information about the new attractions in Nickelodeon Central. It's a shame, the new attractions are really neat (speaking from an avid PKI fan's viewpoint), but the new rides are not as juicy as large wooden looping coaster. *sigh*

Legendary, next time read posts more carefully. Thanks. And notice I didn't even say "only invertigo". Why didn't you tell me about all those other "inverts" that are in the World?

And it doesn't matter whether you count FSS as suspended. That's how it was made and that's what Paramount calls it. Same with Silver Streak and Runaway Reptar. One's suspended. The other's an invert. Layout has nothing to do with it.

I heard that Flight of Fear is supposed to get a whole new film for the queue. Anyone else?

coastersrz...if you look at my Reptar page later tonight: (http://www.coasterguide.com/reptar/reptarcon.htm)
I will have the specs for the coaster up, beyond that, there probably won't be much detailed info. If I jumped on you a moment ago, I apologize.

Koaster King...I heard a few vistors here talking about Premier being asked at a recent conference about changes to Flight of Fear to make the ride less bumpy, and the rep was quoted as saying "Just wait till next year", I guess they have dropped the "Outer Limits" name, beyond that I haven't heard anything, and I can't get the park to confirm or deny anything about the ride.

WLWT channel 5 just did a 5 minute piece on PKI. They were a little off on some of their reporting, but they did mention the fact that the Thornberrys ride was originally a log flume at Coney Island in Cincinnati. They spent most of the story talking about staffing problems at the park (last year and anticipated problems this year), they also compared ticket prices to the other nearby parks and mentioned Sea World of Ohio's animals leaving. The story is at this link: http://www.channelcincinnati.com/cin/entertainment/stories/entertainment-46271820010215-140214.html
and you can see the stats for the rides at this link.

I can't wait to take my family back this year. My youngest(3) loves the log flumes and although my oldest(7) wasn't tall enough to ride most of the coasters, she loved the racers and I am sure the new coaster and the revised flume will be a thrill for both of them.

I would also like to add this in SOB's defense. If they add padding to the lap bars where my knees and elbows smashed against them and left bruises, it will be better than the Beast(in my humble opinion).
I'm very excited about this year.

SOB is a great ride. Hopefully next year will bring even BETTER things!
PKI has devoted it's self to being a family theme park, and with the addition of these rides they will most deffinately attract more families to the park in 2001. PKI has always done a great job at suprising the public with exciting entertainment and will do just that for years to come.
