Paramount's Great America announces new attractions for 2001

Posted | Contributed by RagingBull

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the park will debut "more than 15 new thrills and adventures." Chief among these is the park's 10th coaster, the Arrow designed Psycho Mouse.

Other new attractions include:

  • Celebration Swings, a Zierer wave swinger
  • Thunder Raceway, a separate-fee go-kart track
  • 7th Portal, a new film for the 3-D simulator
  • Smash Factory, which sounds like bumper cars
  • Race the Wind, an IMAX film
  • several new shows

You can read the full press release at the official Paramount's Great America site.

A wild mouse is a wild mouse.

Soggy,
I believe it was a BHS Wilde Maus. RCS Shows does the Pima County Fair here in Tucson, and I recall seeing a BHS insignia somewhere on the cars. From what I understand, BHS is a Bavarian firm that Anton Schwarzkopf has designed rides for.

You just wait what SFMW has in store for 2001. SFMW will blow PGA away, which they already have last semester.
That may be, but PGA has something that SFMW will never have...a traditional theme park look and a nice park layout. I still prefer PGA over SFMW anyday...sure SFMW has two great coasters (Medusa and Roar) but PGA has Stealth, Invertigo, and Top Gun. Plus, a better coaster selection.
Soggy, SFGadv is $45.99 for the theme park only and $9 to park. Don't quote me as I get a season pass each year ($74.99). Expensive for both, but if you saw the crowds, they could probably charge more. Plus $25 for a first parking pass, free renewal each year thereafter. I was just having fun with you as you laid into that (LOL!) Britneyguy. Nothing personal intended. Last year I bought my season pass at SFOT as I was in Dallas on vacation, and since I live in Jersey I was considered out of market for them so I only paid $39.99!! I used it at 6 different SF parks as well as countless times here at home. Sweet deal! See ya.
(P.S. what guy in their right mind would admit to being a "fan" of Britney Spears? LOL!!)
ok i heard rumors of PGA having 2 coasters... so bottom line is that PGA isnt getting a 2nd coaster which was rumored like a B&M or INTAMIN?!?! what kind of ANNIVERSARY IS THIS?!?! only a mOuse?!?!? wow! (sarcasm) PGA needs a bIG coaster like RAGING BULL in SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA which they both are related hm... i say PGA need one bigger to beat MEDUSA of SFMW
I believe the Mack mouses at Hersheypark and BGW are identical (maybe the Hersheypark one is taller, but it could be an illusion because it's perched on a hill). I haven't liked either one, but it could be the nature of the beast, er, mouse. I'll ride any coaster, but those 180 degree flat turns spook me pretty bad. I also think these rides bang up your shoulder if your an adult.
PGA may cost more than some other theme parks but they also offer the Wow! upgrade which lets you get into the park most of the season. Also i agree with Intamin Fan about Smash Factory being a dark ride and not bumper cars since PGA already has them.
SMASH FACTORY IS A SIMULATOR!!!!!!!!!! ITS USUALLY FOUND ON THOSE "Journey" SIMULATORS, THE KIND THAT SHOW ASTRO CANYON RUN. IVE BEEN ON IT! READ MY ABOVE POSTING! SMASH FACTORY IS A SIMULATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also look for PGA to bring back "The Lobster" this year because i remember them saying something about "an old favorite returning." They r also supposed to build bumper boats, although these attraction have not been announced.
Here is proof That smash factory is a simulator:

type this in a see for yourselves!
So is Smash Factory going to be on one side of the James Bond Sim and 7th portal on the other? I was hoping that the new mouse would of been the suspended type.

No Lapbar, No Seatbelt, No Problem!
i want another coaster there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes,Smash factory will be in one theater and th portal in the other
Gee, That's a special Way to start out the New year ('01). They should have made a really tall coaster. Except since the airport is near the park, I don't think they allow it.
Soggy, if you purchase he one-day 42.99 dollar admission, you can coe back any day in the season using the WOW card.
