Paramount's Carowinds 9-22-01

Associated parks:
None

This was my 10th trip to Carowinds this year.

I arrived at the park around 4:50 with the park closing at 8.  I checked the Top Gun line and it was out the gate, so I headed to Thunder Road, which had a much shorter line.  I rode the fowards side in the very last seat.  There was a small bit of airtime and it was quite bumpy, but a nice long ride.  I strolled by Top Gun at 5:10 and decided to head back later.  I then made my way to the back of the park to Hurler.

Luckily, Hurler usually is not a long line even on crowded days.  In line I I passed a guy heading out with a Millennium Force shirt on and said hey (wasn't one of you guys was it?).  I waited about 15 minutes for the ejector seat (1-2), and enjoyed a ride that was even better than usual.  After exiting the Hurler I took a ride in the back seat on the Carolina Cyclone, and I must say it may have been the best its ran all year.  The record-breaking (1980- first coaster to feature 4 inversions) Arrow looper was smooth as glass in the back and running very fast, great forces in the inversions.  I then went back to Hurler and took a breathtaking ride in the front seat.

After exiting the Hurler I ran into Xtreme Paramount Parks' webmaster Will and turned around to ride Hurler with him (another ride in 1-2).  He had been at the park all day and had been avoiding Top Gun due to huge lines, so we both decided to try to get a ride or 2 before closing.  We waited 30-40 minutes for the front seat, and Top Gun was running amazing as usual.  My eyes were blurred with tears as we pulled into the station.  We waited about 25 minutes and rode Top Gun one last time in the next to last car for my 70th ride this season.  It was a nice trip, and a pleasant suprise to see Will there.

On another note, no sign of Ricochet track yet, but the land has been cleared.  It WILL NOT, as some have said, replace Goldrusher, nor be near it.  It will stand in the spot Casey's Grill once stood in.  Here is a photo:

i saw that guy w/ the Millennium Force shirt on, i was giong to wear mine but didn't, instead i wore my "FAYGO AND BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER" icp shirt... i got a lot of those christian folk staring at me and asking me what FAYGO was ! ahah

i got to ride Hurler in the front, which IS a much better ride then in the back, surprisingly, i got more air off of this one then i did on the PKD one in the front... hmmm odd isn't it?
