U.S. movie giant Paramount Pictures hopes to take over the prime location of Expoland for its new theme park in Osaka, it's been learned. Sun Capital Management Corp., an Osaka-based real estate fund that will manage the new Paramount Pictures theme park, will shortly start negotiations to buy the land of the recently closed amusement park in Osaka Prefecture, President Kenji Maeda said on Monday.

Did they not just recently say they wanted out of the park business entirely. Or am I missing something?

That was CBS. Of course, Paramount Pictures parent is Viacom, who spun off CBS with the original Paramount Parks. But that said, this is a licensing arrangement, which the papers aren't reporting exactly. They're not "in the business" as much as they're lending their name to the business.

...and I'm still saying CF did themselves a huge disservice by giving up those Paramount licenses.

On the coaster side of things, Orochi is gone, but it looks like everything else is still in place (based solely on rcdb info).

OK a license I can understand, and don't have any problems with. I agree that Cedar Fair screwed up dropping the license at the former Paramount Parks.
The article was not very clear about the fact that it is just a license and not Paramount running the parks.

Yea.

We did 2 former paramount parks this week, and it was very interesting.

First park was kings dominium, where all the nick stuff was marked 50% off.

2,nd park was carowinds, where all the nick stuff was marked 75% off.

3,rd park was kings island, where the nick stuff was only marked down 25%.

I see an end to the nick theme at all cedarfair parks by next year. This really sucks, as my daughter just loves nick. We had a field day at the nick store at carowinds with the 75% off sale.

I don't see what they plan to gain from dropping the nick stuff. Can snoopy really be as maketable as nick?

I can just see all the new lame name changes and the removal of all the theming in the nick areas next year. :(

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

My imagination just got worse for envisioning how the theming could be changed.

I'm going to start to really dislike Snoopy if (or probably when) this happens.
