Paramount Parks

I am an amusement park enthusiast, so I love any park. As anyone, I have little annoyances about certain chains though. One thing I have really noticed deals with Paramount Parks. Is it just me, or do they generally built smaller rides, with very few props (most are tacky too), and the theming is less than average. What are your opinions?
Add to the list: dirty and most rides are poorly run.

I don't know about smaller rides, and theming isn't a big issue to me. Aren't "props" a type of theming?

They've got a few good rides though...

Let me guess...Missy's home Paramount park is Great America.....

(just noting that MY local Paramount park just built a *huge* coaster, and seems to have pretty much given up on theming)

Dirty and poorly run? Doesn't describe the Paramount parks (PKD and PKI) *I* went to this year. Operation at PKD, especially, was GREAT. (Refer back to my trip report from PKD in early September to see what I mean. I was more pleased with ops at PKD than at the high & mighty Cedar Point, and I LIKE CP).

PGA (if this is the Paramount park we are talking about) does have some pretty small / short coasters. Remember, until a few years ago, PGA was the only coaster destination in Northern California. (except SCBB) The only long ride there is The Grizzly, which is not much fun. PKI, however, has some of the biggest and best rides anywhere.

So you want a coaster in your backyard? I hope you have a big backyard.
Well, if I remember right, PGA has always had a crap history. I believe they were the last park KECO took over, therefore leaving less time for them to make it great before the Paramount buyout, naturally making it less appealing for Paramount to give it great stuff...
I'd have to guess she's referring to PCW :)
It's so dirty it's discusting.
And their tallest coaster, at a whopping 125 feet, is "The Bat", a Vekoma Boomerang.

*If things seem under control, you're just not going fast enough*

Themeing? I haven't gone to a true theme park* where the theming was mind blowing.

*(I can't count Disney they're in a league of their own.)

You build it, I'll ride it
IOA, it will blow you away.
Well, I have to agree about PGA's coasters being too short. It's a problem I hope will be remedied with the new competition across the bay. Personally, I prefer to go to PGA because generally it's a better looking park than SFMW, however, the coasters at SFMW blow away anything at PGA, with the exception of Invertigo. Medusa and Roar are two of the best in California. Also, I think several theme parks have their share of problems, case in point SFMM. I was just there and they had a lot of their food stands closed, but were selling frozen lemonade when the temps weren't above 60! They had staffing problems at the food stalls that were open and the staff on the rides were mediocre. Paint? Everywhere I looked paint was peeling off the walls, on the coasters, whatever. Not all SF parks are like that, but I don't see generalizing all parks because of a few that aren't properly run. :)

PGA has short coasters and will *always* have short coasters unless they change locations. They are right in line with the airport. With a 115ft height limit, you can't build steel coasters much longer than 3,000ft long, not unless you want to putt-putt back to the station. That's why I think Paramount needs to drop their pride and give CCI a call. BTW, Drop Zone, Sky Coaster and Invertigo were approved because they are single structures. Huge rollercoasters take up alot more space.

SOMETHING IS COMING!!!
In 2001 a new *beast* will rise at SFMM.
