(Paramount) Canada’s Wonderland

I would like to express my disappointment with this park. Since Paramount purchased the park there hasn’t been any outstanding coaster. There have been 3 new coasters since 1992 (Vekoma SLC, a kiddie coaster and a wild mouse on steroids) and not one of them has been very exciting. With annual attendance around 3 million people, you would think that the park would purchase a record breaking, or near record breaking coaster. All of the other Paramount parks have gotten one (Stealth, SOB, Volcano, Outer Limits, Top Gun)

The lame thing is that the park advertises their coasters using tag lines like “Canada’s only” and “Ontario’s only” implying that they are breaking records when they are really not.

Their website is the worst I have seen for any amusement park. They don’t even have their 2000 information up on it. Every other Paramount park has a list of their coasters with limited descriptions and specifications, while Wonderland doesn’t even mention that they have any.

I’m not sure if it is the same at all of the other parks, but Paramount has slaughtered the theme areas. The Medieval area is now home of renamed rides like “Spinovator” and “The Rage” yet the area is still called Medieval Faire. And the world’s fair area is home of Top Gun. How appropriate!

It is the parks 20th anniversary and the 2 new rides look pretty lame (a kid’s dark ride and a fair type swing ride).

I hope the park does something fantastic for the 2001 year although I am sure they will probably end up expanding the water park (for the 3rd time) or adding another kiddie ride to the 3 kiddie areas.
Rumor has it theyll be gettin a hyper coaster for 2001.
I went in 1996 and thought it was a nice park. I especially liked the variety (ie Vortex, Mine Buster (awesome ride!!!) The Bat, Dragon Fyre (I think that's the name) and Top Gun is one sweet inverted. While it may not be THE best park, I think it's definately respectable!!
It is not that great, I'll give you that, but it is cheaper for Americans because of the dollar exchange. It is pretty nice to get in for less money. Isn't this park just like some Six Flags though? A Vekoma inverted, an Arrow looper, a togo stand-up, and so forth. I am impressed at some Six Flags, but not at all at others. I am sick of going to Six Flags and practically riding the same rides. I am not saying they are all like this, PGA, SFMM,PKI, and others are great, but just a few.........
PCW is my home park. First of all Wonderland is a great park the problem is the last couple years they have been upgrading areas such as the kids land the water park and other area's. This year they are adding a huss top spin I have been on one before and it was an amazing ride and that version was a portable version so I am sure this one will be alot better with the water effects and everything. Next year there will be a new coaster for sure expect another large wooden coaster or a hyper coaster maybe even a stealth coaster or a volcano which would be amazing on Wonder Mountain. You can expect a wonderland site opening soon just got to get some kinks out of the page i have created then I will put it up.

PCW is a fine park, probably the nicest looking of all the Paramount parks, and right behind BGW overall. They have a nice variety of rides, including a very good Arrow suspended. I have to agree that they don't have anything groundbreaking. Personally, I think that since Paramount has an exclusive agreement with Vekoma and Stealth, I can see one of next Flying Dutchmen going in there along with PKD.

What's the deal with The Fly? I wish I knew what this coaster was, I don't because the website is so bad.
Fly is a wild mouse from Mack. Its begins with a 50 feet drop, back to the higher level into the hairpin turns. Its a fun ride.
What i hate about wonderland and SFDL being so close together is that they keep getting the same rides! SFDL built the Boomerang when an exact copy of it, the Bat, was sitting in wonderland. SFDL built the Mind Eraser after PCW built Top Gun, and now they're both getting Top Spins this year. And Wonderland used to have such nice theming.... :|

Actually, reports from the Toronto area are saying that the PCWo Cliffhanger is not a Huss Top Spin. It has two individual banks of seats instead of one, so from the side it kind of looks like a big Y. The ride action is probably going to very close to a Top Spin, but it isn't a Top Spin.
