Paramount and Hypers

I guess we can say Paramount has finally built their first hyper coaster, Son of Beast at PKI. However, since SOB is wooden, when do you think Paramount will build their first steel hyper?
I would think they might build one in the next few years, but you never know about Paramount.
Call me crazy, but I see a hyper, (or something like one) coming to Paramount Canada's Wonderland in the near future. Reasons?

1. High capacity- As it is right now, expect to wait 30 minutes or more for everything. A high capacity ride could help that.
2. Signature attraction- The big draw for a park. Right now it's Top Gun, a Vekoma SLC. Enough said.
3. Need for big attractions- The last time a big ride was added was Top Gun in 1995, (or 1996, I can't remember exactly). They're due :)
That's just what I think...

I think Paramount relaizes that height is not nessessary for a coaster to be a top 10. Height is all good, but what about the complete package. I mean whats the point of a 300ft coaster if all it is is a freefall tower on wheels?! What ever Paramount decides to build it will be well thought out and enjoyable......hopefully..............

Skeeball-don't for get the fact that Wonderland is also sort of in competition with Darien Lake.

I also believe that PKI will do a hyper steel eventually since they are popular and SFKK doesn't have one.
Don't forget about Carowinds. They are up for something big next year. Hypersonic XLC or a hyper are my guesses.

What is life without ups and downs!?!?
yeah, I heard about the hyper coaster in PCW. They said it was coming in either 2002 or 2003 and it was going next to Minebuster wooden coaster.:)
I think that 2002 could be a big spending year for Paramount, in hypers. I've heard PKI, Carowinds, and PCW all mentioned. If they got a good deal with a company, they could get three clones of each other for the three parks, kinda like how Six Flags did with S:ROS.
Hypers are a going to become a thing of the past. The reason why I think this is because parks seemed to feel the need to build ALL coasters taller and taller. B&M Floorless coasters will soon stand over 200 ft and I believe X will be over 200 ft too. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is Hypercoasters aren't a big draw anymore. Sad to say since I like them so much.

Carowinds is definitly in the running for it. I'll tell you now Im 15 years old but that doesn't mean I dont know anything. I never post rumors this is the only thing ive posted simply because it is a fact. This summer at Carowinds a friend and I were going to Subway to eat. It was 10:45 and it didnt open till 11. The/one of (not really sure how they do it) the co-managers at Carowinds was in there grabbing him a bite to eat before it happened. He asked if we were having fun and he also said that hopefully they could get the Super Saturator up and running today (we told him it had been broken down everytime we wanted to ride it). When we asked him about what Carowinds planned for the future he said 2 or 3 years down the line they were looking at a new coaster (hopefully 2 which would be 2002). He said they may build a ride like the one in California (Stealth) or a hypercoaster. I quote him: "You need a lot of space to get those large coasters up to speed. We own the land all the way to the highway and that is where we would build one". Basically, it would run sideways from Wayne's World past Waterworks all the way to the Thunder Road turnaround and the road. All I can say is, I hope he is right :)

Intamin: I don't believe B&m will ever make a looper that FAR eclipses the 200 foot mark. This is because they have learned from Arrow's mistakes. Viper is still one of the tallest loopers (now that Phantom is semi-gone) and it is just not a good ride.

Think about it. Would you rather ride a 190 foot coaster like Viper, or the 140 foot Medusa? B&M has a way of doing loopers so that height isn't the only draw. Too much taller and we may shun B&M for making the same mistakes Arrow did...

About the hypercoaster topic, the one at hand.. heh heh...

Paramount doesn't seem to keen on anything but loopers, save for PKI (and even PKI's newest wooden coaster loops...) I don't know if this is planned or not, but it seems like they believe in prototypes more than anything. Stealth, Hypersonic XLC, Invertigo, Son of Beast, Volcano, even Flight of Fear. With 6 parks, and 6 major prototypes in the last 5 years, I think we know where they're headed.

Well, not really. Look whats up for 2001: Titan, Phantom's Revenge, and Nitro. Anyway if a Paramount park does get a hyper, I wonder who it will be made by? I would guess maybe a B&M at PCW.

Alright maybe I should have specified. When I say thing of the past I mean all types of coasters are getting very tall. Which means the average height for a coaster will be drivin up. Therefore makeing hypercoasters obsolete. But that's why we have "Gigacoasters."

I think that fad is over. It went out when B&M created Kumba, a 140 foot looping masterpiece. Kumba vs. Viper (190 feet). I think we know who wins.

Also, when CCI came into the mix and made coasters that were under 100 feet tall, but still the best in the world, I think the fad of tall wooden coasters got thwarted.
