Parachutte Ride at Knotts?

I recently visited knott's, after not being there for a while, and was surprised that they removed the parachutte ride.  Does anyone know why they removed it?
Didn't they remove that for Supreme Scream? I'm probably wrong. (PS) I loved that ride, except not at the time because my dad made me ride it when I was 4 and I thought I was going to fly out! :)

"I can't dream anymore, since you left. I miss you singing me to sleep."- New Found Glory

it was because it had pretty low capacity and was too expensive to maintain and run when nobody would go on it because of Supreme Scream

also whenever i go there they always seem to be short of ops for Supreme Scream so that might have had something to do with it also

How have they been short of ride-ops?  How do you know this?
It was removed along with the "Headache" himalaya flat-ride in the 1999 season. What a sad loss. It was the world's first modern parachute drop ride that led to others at Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, etc.
Yeah, the Parachute Drop was removed to make rome for Perilous Plunge.

Another sad day: SFGAdv will be removing it's Parachute drop ride to make room for an S&S ThrillShot upcharge ride.

No, the Headache and Pacific Pavillion was removed for Perilous Plunge. The Parachute Sky Jump was removed because of low ridership and high maintenance costs.
Oh...I heard that it was removed for PP.  But then again, I got it from ScreamScape 3 months before it was built, lol.

No it wasn't removed for Perilous Plunge because the SkyCabin observation tower uses the same tower as the parachutes did, and it still exists!
That was probably my first thrillride ever! And it scared me to death! I was little...
I remember being lifted up the tower in those parachutes and hanging on for dear life.
I think it made me afraid of heights and thrill rides in general for many years.

well, the reason I asked was because I heard there was some accident or something that made them remove it.  But that could have  just been a rumor.
I love those rides. They are so much fun. Good for photo taking opportunities, of a ride. I am sad to see SFGAdv's go because I remeber going on when I was little with my mom and my neighbor across the street. It was so much fun, but the lines moved so slow.

I always thought that it had been removed for Wind Jammer.  I think it was removed around that time too.  Im probably wrong, but thats what I heard.  Bad mistake if it was, I really loved that ride.  I wish they would bring it back.  I'd take that instead of a new coaster.......on second thought, nevermind.

Uhm, no. Windjammer debuted in spring of 1997 and the Parachute Sky Jump was still operating when the racing coaster opened. PSJ was taken out in early/mid 1999 along with Headache, Pacific Pavillion, and a few other buildings.
As of my last trip to the "Farm" last spring the Sky Cabin was still there and operating. The story I heard why the Parachute Jump portion was eliminated was capacity. The carousel in Fiesta Village has a better rph than it did.
