Panamaniacs

I am going to Panama City Beach Florida next week for spring break, and I was wondering if there are any parks within an hour or so driving distance that are worth trying out. While I don't know if I will even have any free-time, I might want to take a day off from screaming and drinking and wet t-shirt competitions, and riding a coaster in a week doesn't sound all that bad. Thanks for any help

Down is the new up.
Well, there used to be a park right in Panama City Beach, but you missed it by one year. It just closed to make way for condos. Sorry.

Sorry you missed Miracle Strip, there ARE some independent thrill-ride operators in the area, mostly go-karts and miniature golf, but maybe the occasional slingshot/bungee/skycoaster.

There's also THIS place, don't know how I missed that...;)

LOL, further edit: Duane says "no adults allowed" on that amazing steelie...;)

I think I would be more inclined to attend a wet t-shirt contest than ride the Dragon Coaster.

Wet t-shirt contest ON the Dragon Coaster? ;)

Ah, but would you participate? ;)
Slight derailment of the topic, but the title made me think of Animaniacs... Anybody remember that cartoon?

Sort of an educational Simpsons with more kid humor. Still a fun show for us grown-ups though :-)

Jimmybob...as soon as I saw the title, I started singing to myself...

"Pan-a-many...totally insaney...Pan-a-maniacs...those are the facts!" LOL

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Jeez, that took me back to high School :)

Its time for anamaniacs
we're zany to the max
so just sit back and relax
you'll laugh till you collapse
We're Anamaniacs...

Fate is the path of least resistance.

But is anything taking you to Solace?:)
Waterville USA is in Gulf Shores, Al which is about 2 hours from PCB if I remember correctly. It has Cannonball Run, a medium sized CCI woodie. It's not an extremely thrilling coaster, but it is fun. You should check out the remains of what's left standing at Miracle Strip in PCB and give us an update too.

By the way...nice Muse poster.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
Waterville USA isn't open next week, it doesn't open 'till April.

But, for anyone else in the area, again, for like $5, it's not a bad deal for a better-than-average woodie.

Animaniacs.. one of my favorite cartoons when I was in high school.

Do you know that they actually had 3 CDs with music from their shows?

Thanks for the help. I will probably just stay at the hotel during the days. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree and I think there will be MTV-ish contests and dj's and stuff going on all day. A kiddy dragon coaster is not my #1 draw although I might bunjee jump if I'm drunk enough and by a bunjee jumping place.

In advance, WOOOOO.

Down is the new up.
Well, I'm back and I had a blast. I didn't make any attempts to do anything amusement park related, but something randomly came across me (Random things always happen when I drink heavily). I was walking down the street accross from the Summit (a hotel in PCB) with two cute girls, and this guy from the sling-shot ball asked the girls if they were going to ride. One of them asked if she could do it for free and the guy said yeah. When the other girl chickened out, I had no problem stealing her spot. I had never ridden any of those, but this one was ridiculously fun. When I got off, I saw the price listed was 25 bucks a person, which made me even happier. It is amazing how many sky coasters and sling-shots are in Panama City Beach. I think the one we rode was the tallest sling-shot. It certainly was the nicest looking.

Sorry if you were bored by the random story, but I just thought it was cool.

Moral - Always have hot girls when walking by sling-shots.

Did you notice if Starliner was still standing?

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
I didn't know what Starliner was, but I just looked on RCDB. Yes it is still standing. The whole park just looks as if it was left the way it was when it was running. I didn't really pay that much attention to it because we were looking for Hooters so we could watch the UK game. We got there and they didn't even have the NCAA tournement package. We just settled for watching the wrong game with score updates while looking at hot girls.

Just reading thru, and Moosh, knowing the orientation, made me crack up, BIG TIME! Too funny. Thanks for the chuckle!

There's nothing like a woodie...
Animaniacs was good, I was like 8 then, but my personal favorite of the 90's is Tiny Toon Adventures.
