Ozzi Waterpark in Palatine Illinois announced today they will not be opening for the 2007 season and that the property will be sold to build a new retail strip mall.

I never went to this place but I saw commercials on TV for this place all the time during past summers. There are/were a few water slides and a go-kart track but not much. I think it's been around since the 60s or 70s.

That's a bummer.
I hate hearing about parks closing.
Last year, Dover lake near Cleveland shutdown operations for good.

Four bears closed out by me as well. The owner said it had to do with insurance rates.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

^Four Bears closed?! I remember going there a loonngg time ago, visiting my aunt up in MI. I remember they had a straight double-down slide that went into the lake, called "lightening" or something, and you had to wear a motorcycle helmet LOL. That's a shame though, they did have another waterslide complex, a kiddie pool, a beach and I remember the show wasn't too bad. That one slide was just ridiculous though, they could have done without it.
Sad of hearing another waterpark close, especially for a strip mall. All part of progress I suppose.

Dover Lake Waterpark closed in 2006 due to the more than doubling of insurance rates of all parks that had water over 6' deep.
That is also the same reason that Pioneer Waterland closed its large adult diving pool in 2006.
