BOOMERANG!
Koppman: AMEN TO THAT!

Boomerang is soooo overused. Not to mention that coaster concept I think has seen its time come and go. They are too predicable after you ride em a few times.

HOWEVER, maybe Deja Vu will prove to be different. The closest one to me is SFGam and it is not open yet. However, I have heard it might be open by frightfest!!

Any coaster with the name Cyclone in it.

"The Peoples Elbow" or "The Spinaroonie?. Cant decide which is the most electrifying move in sports entertainment!!! LOL
SF's tends to overuse ride names the most... particular Batman and Superman.

Coasters have always shared similar names.....

If you think "Batman" or "vortex" are overused, then take a trip back in history and count all the Switchback Railways, Leap the Dips, Cyclones, Big Dippers and Jack Rabbits.....

Now many of the names out today consist of a "Brand" or "Icon"

Boomerang may be overused, but Wild Adventures actually has it in the "Outback" section of the park, so I'm cool with that.  Batman, and Superman, snakes in general.  I think part of the problem is SF's lack of theming originality, which I'd be only too happy to help with.  Another source of the naming problem comes up when parks use the name given to the ride by the manufacturer.  I'm OK with the name Cyclone, but ONLY if it's a wooden twister!  Carolina Cyclone is neither, and is therefore deemed unfit to bear the name (even thogh it IS a good ride)...

I agree with the names already mentioned, but what about Deja vu?????
Basically anything relating to weather phenomenon, that includes Cyclone, Thunderbolt, Tornado etc... all names that were made popular during the 1920's.  Wildcat was a frequently used name as well, although there aren't that many left (unless you count Schwarzkopf Wildcats), and only one (Lake Compounce Wildcat) is a Herb Schmeck original.
Deja Vu isn't overused....only ONE exists!

Serial Thriller, Mind Eraser, Twister and any name with "Eagle" in it.

ARROW GUY, there are three Deja Vu's.  They are at SFGAm, SFMM, and SFoG.

Basically, if SF slips up and does come up with a "clever" name for a coaster, I'm sure we'll see ten rides with the same name within a couple years...One name that I liked that I want to see again is Banshee - but this time I'm hoping for a coaster at BGW's Ireland.  I'd obviously prefer wood, but I think that name would fit the area well.  (Of course Busch parks don't have a problem with originality or creativity).

Just think of Medusa, that was actually a creative name for the Six Flags Great Adventure coaster in 1999.  Then, before we knew it, 2000 comes bringing another Medusa to Six Flags Marine World.  That sort of upset me.  I thought for once we had an original name, and then they took it away.  Luckily, we just got Nitro, which is still unique...for now.

Corkscrew, Top Gun, And Hypersonic XLC (just kidding about the last one ;-) )
The reason that Batman, Superman, Medusa and Deja Vu are used repeatedly is marketing.

When you buy gifts and t-shirts in all those little shops it is easier, and cheaper, for Six Flags to mass produce them and send them off all across the U.S. rather than having products with hundreds of different names.

Besides, it's the ride that's important, not the name.

Do you hear the Rumble at the Lake?......BoulderDash!

S:ros is definately overused. They made the the same name for different ride designs.
Yeah but when you have a park chain like Six Flags, I think forking out some extra bucks to have different type of t-shirts and stuff would be a much better idea.

That's the problem with Six Flags, they spend too much on the rides themselves and they hurt in areas like theming, orginallity, unqiueness & traditions

I think any CLONE coaster SHOULD share the same name (ie BOOMERANG). But Six Flags uses the name VPER along with the same logo on several completely different rides. For example---Viper at SFMM is an arrow multilooper. Viper at SFoG is a Schwartzkopf shuttle loop. As stated before, this makes marketing and product placement easier, but really dulls the park. Why go all the way to Georgia to ride Viper when I already ride Viper here in California??? Oh, it's a differnt coaster????
I remember a time when i could say Batman or Superman and it meant Batman:the Ride and Superman: the escape. Now you have to say the entire name, and sometimes its still confusing what coaster you are refering to.
Batman: The Escape
Superman:THE Ecape
Superman: Ultimate Escape
Batman & Robin: The Chiller
Superman :Krypton Coaster
Superman : Ride of Steel
Enough already. What about all the other characters. Wonderwoman, aquaman, ANY villain (Lex Luther, Penguin, Catwoman) if they are so intent on using DC comic book names.
