Overhead pic of CP

It was taken in November of 2000 from a high altitude arial shot. Few things point this out..

#1 and the most important: Lighthouse point is still being built (opened spring 2001)

#2) boats are still being shrink wrapped in the overflow parking lot (these are all gone by the end of Nov).

#3) Cars are still left on Giant Wheel.

#4) Trains still left on Gemini, Magnum, Mantis yet the covers for most of the Kiddy Kingdom rides and Matterhorn are all taken down. (Also.. one ID train is off and in it's temp storage spot on the midway.)

Also the # of seasonal cars in the employee parking lot.

You are right... I stand corrected... I forogt, WT was added in 02, not 01... It also apears the stage used for HAlloweekends where the guy that has the bone legs is still there next to the mock-up train station right before Fronteer trail... It was 3AM when I typed it in my message, and was looking at the pic, and was tired.

Two other interesting observations... Both focused on the Pretzel turn-around on Maggie.

I never noticed there were two tennis courts back there. Also, there appears to be a lighting rig on the 2nd have of the turn around, very similar to the one used for the flash when taking on-ride picture located on the 2nd part of the turn around, when it should be located further down on the camel backs.... any ideas??

I guess 'published' in Spring of 2000 is different from when the actual photos were taken. Oh well..

What an amazing picture. It's so big. I have never seen that and I could spend hours looking at it. Do they have pictures like this of many other parks?
Anyone notice that the picture's so big you can see the trim brakes on Mean Streak's first drop?

If you've got one of those screen savers that lets pictures you've downloaded appear on the screen, don't put this picture in it unless you have tons of RAM. It's crazy.

Awesome picture, though.

I believe ucdaap42 hinted at this, but it definately multiple photos pieced together. You can clearly see this when looking at the first part of the lift on mean streak. Also the turnaround right over that part. In both places the track just doesnt meet. If you look in a horizontal line from that point you will find several areas where things just don't match up.

Looks to me like it was taken March 2001 instead of November 2000. A few reasons:

1. Mulch and/or dirt piles in Soak City, Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle Suites parking lots indicate spring landscaping work.

2. The deciduous trees have no leaves. A good portion of the trees would still have leaves in November.

3. I don't think there would be that many boats in the marina lot only a few weeks after the season ends (with the marina itself empty).

4. Lighthouse Point wasn't that far along in November 2000.

I'd have to say March also. Look at the flowers along the midway. Usually you are able to see a flag or some other symbol made out of different color flowers as you ride the Sky ride. In this picture, however, the flowerbeds are completely barren, possibly indicating that the flowers went through an Ohio winter. This is just my guess, so correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably am.

After further review, I go back to my original opinions, and agree that it is Spring, opposed to Fall.

(Who still likes the bridge to Millie ISland in the picture)

I'm sitting here looking at the actual CD from the county Auditor and it says "Published: Spring 2000" With the evidence pointed out by many of you, I'd have to say that is a typo on the part of the Auditor of Erie County.

Is anyone else amazed that this conversation is going on? Quite amusing actually.

TTDTom - Those flower beds aren't planted until after opening day (sometimes not even until June) and the flowers are removed right after the park ends its season.

DorneyDante - I'm more amused that you felt the need to reply.
